As Daphne slipped back into her robes, she could hear Liam's cries, followed by gruff words of comfort. They boy started asking for her even as she emerged from the bathroom, and she was frowning softly when she sat down next to Miles, who had his arms wrapped around his son.
"Hey Liam," she said quietly. "I'm right here. You don't need to open your eyes if they hurt, okay? Everyone is fine." She ran her hand over the boy's hair, knowing it would calm him further if he could feel that they were both there.
"You've been such a good boy," she said softly, even as she looked to Miles to make sure he wasn't going to have another meltdown.
