Neville sighed heavily when he felt the soft touch of Ginny's forehead on his. Opening his eyes after a soft laugh, he shook his head, wanting to say 'you didn't act anything like an idiot', but they had been doing that all morning - she knew perfectly well he didn't think she acted like an idiot at all. "Alright." he said, sealing the bargain with that last kiss.
When Ginny said she had to go to work though, Neville leaned his head back on the sofa and held her, listening to all the reasons why and how he too wished she didn't have to go. "No, I don't think he would at all unfortunately." Neville pushed her hair back behind her ear and watched as she rolled her eyes, never so glad to see her smiling again. "If you want to... come by the house after your shift and I'll cook something up." Until then though, he'd be sleeping. He was already bordering on passing out right there on her couch out of relief need for rest.
Finally though, they both managed to make their way to the door to see him off. "I'm glad you owled me, and thank you for healing my hands." He used both to cradle her face, kissing her goodbye before her shift and giving her a huge hug. Wincing inwardly, he hoped Ginny didn't feel him jump slightly at the feel of his mother's ring poking him in the ribs. Smiling afterward, he pulled back and watched her eyes, silently telling her what they had just said at least a dozen times before.
"Have a good shift, I'll have something nice ready for you." Neville grinned and squeezed both of Ginny's hands before he was out the door and walking back to the house on Oddington. He felt such an odd mix of things; relief, confusion, fatigue, a dull ache in his hands... but most of all he felt loved, and it made him shake his head and smile, swerving as his steps took him back home.
