Once the potion did its work and her symptoms began to fade enough that she could eat and be a bit more active, she was surprised how much her body started to react. Daphne had been able to keep down more solid foods now, and her pox marks had mostly faded away - her skin was still a bit irritated and red in spots, but that was easily covered by a few simple glamour charms.
She knew she was still weak, but she thought if she laid in that bed one second longer, she might go crazy. Daphne slipped out of bed while Miles was dropping off Liam at the Montagues to take a long, warm shower. It was, she thought, one of the best showers she'd ever had in her life, and she stayed in far too long, getting out only when her fingers started to prune.
She dried her hair and glanced in the mirror, still a bit frightened by how pale and small she looked, but she thought that in a few days she would probably be back tomorrow and this disease would be nothing but a bad memory.
After dressing in some warmer robes, Daphne went to play with Nigel. The look on his face was adorable when she picked him up, and she letting him walk to her when Miles came into the room.
"Ecstatic, actually," she said, smiling at him. "Liam's glad to be out of the house, I bet?"
