TERRIFIC... Mr. Terrific will be leaving the Watchtower today to locations unknown. He isn't sure where he and Tornado will end up, but he has researched some possibilities to explore. But all that comes later. For now, he is at the door of the Justice League's other quest resident -- Z. Holding a large box in a larger plastic bag in front of him, he knocks on the door, already know that Z is inside.
Z... Spending some time out of the tower with an associate does wonders for one's demeanor. Atleast it does for Z. He doesn't often make social calls...probably because he doesn't really have that many associates or friends. Once he hears the knock at the door, he gets up to answer it. Why doesn't he just use his powers, you ask? Because it's a gross misuse of magicks that could lead to trouble later on. He opens the door and looks shocked that it's Mr. Terrific here. "Can I help you?"
TERRIFIC... "No." Mr. Terrific didn't come here for any kind of help. He lifts the bagged box slightly to bring attention to it. "I'm about to leave, and I wanted to bring this to you and Zelda. It is a rabbit habitat. I was at a store for animals." Z and Zelda are guests here, because they could no longer be where they were before. That is how Mr. Terrific understands the situation at least. The rooms here are designed for people -- or even androids like him -- but not necessarily with comforts for animals.
Z... Z looks confusedly at Mr. Terrific. Thanks for catching him off-guard there. Z isn't really sure what to make of this, given how unexpected the gift is. For once he doesn't know what to say. "Thank.. you." Z eyes Mr. Terrific, as if looking at him will somehow sate his confusion. "How did you know her name?" ...And that he has a rabbit. Surely Terrific has better things to do than to study the pents of people living here.
TERRIFIC... "My telepathy. I try not to pay too much attention to people's individual thoughts, but that still leaves me with a... general awarenss." That seems to be the right way to describe it. He isn't sitting around listening to everyone's every thought, but he is still aware of everyone's names and the like. "And Zelda has spent time around me." He lifts the box a little again. Is Z going to take it?
Z... "Ah.." Z takes the box from Mr. Terrific and sets it down on a nearby table. "Yes, I did notice that was going on." Z wonders idlely what else Terrific knows about all of them here. Z assumes that Zelda hangs around Terrific because she's suspicious, just like she always does. No one really suspects the innocent bunny of anything.
TERRIFIC... Mr. Terrific is aware of what Z is wondering but has to think of how he would quantify how much he knows about everyone in the Watchtower. There isn't a scale of measurement he's aware of for something like that. "I would say I'm familiar with everyone here. And she was suspicious at first. But then she enjoyed my company because I could hear her."
Z... Z doesn't really feel comfortable around this robot--android, whatever--that has full access to his thoughts. Terrific is turning Z's thoughts into conversation and it's just so damn strange. It's not something that Z's gotten used to, even though this isn't the first telepath he's ever come across. "You could hear her," Z asks, incredulously.
TERRIFIC... It's now Mr. Terrific's turn to give Z a confused look. "I can hear everyone." People, animals, people turned into animals. They all have thoughts for him to be aware of. He supposes he can understand the confusion about that ability though. He knows Marina also has telepathy but is only connected to a certain field of thoughts. He's not sure why his is more broad but can guess it has something to do with being an android.
Z... "In my experience, telepaths mostly read human thought patterns." Or maybe they don't try? Either way, it's still curious to Z. Considering that Terrific is man-made. His creators must be some truly brilliant people. Z looks away, again uncomfortable because he wonders what it is that Terrific and Zelda could be talking about. There's a feeling of jealousy there that someone else could talk to his cousin and Z hasn't been able to do much in the way of the communication since she's been in her current form.
TERRIFIC... Mr. Terrific's brain was created by a tempermental chimpanzee. That may change Z's perception of Mr. Terrific's created. "I'm sorry." Being able to sense another's thoughts also makes it easy to understand those thoughts. He knows Z wishes that he could communicate with Zelda too.
Z... We can't all be perfect, can we? Z snaps back so that he's looking at Mr. Terrific again. "I do not need pity from you or anyone else." Z has been doing so well with being nice today. It is a shame he had to break the streak. But Z really doesn't like to look like he's vulnerable in any way, and Terrific could pretty much read Z like an open book.
TERRIFIC... Mr. Terrific can, so it isn't really possible for Z to mask vulnerabilities from him. He understands the intent though, and he knows this visit is mostly making Z uncomfortable. He shouldn't continue it for much longer. "There is only one more thing, and then I will go."
Z... Z is also aware of that fact, which infuriates him even more. He has no control over what Terrific can and can't see. There's more, goody. "Yes?"
TERRIFIC... This interaction with Z is helping Mr. Terrific better understand people's privacy issues. So... there is at least that. He goes quiet for a moment, looking past Z into the room. His yellow eyes glow a little as he focused on Zelda. "There's no big message that she has for you. I think what she wants you to know is just -- yes. She's okay."
Z... Glad to be of service. "Oh." Z covers his mouth and runs his hand back and forth across it a few times. He's trying to keep his mouth hidden here, as if that could somehow mask his emotion from Terrific. The power of his simple statement is pretty amazing. Z's hand muffles his 'thank you,' though Terrific could likely pick up on his feeling anyway.
TERRIFIC... Mr. Terrific could. That's why he nods and walks away. Piper is watching Tornado right now, and it is time for him to collect what little things he has and leave. He hopes that someday he'll be able to return and help more, but for now, that will just be a goal for him to work towards.
