summary; Brion and Caitlin hang out at his apartment and talk about the events that transpired with her family. (Backdated to the night after the end of the Red-Kryptonite saga)
Caitlin: Caitlin had a really shitty time of it. Can she just say that taking on two of her family members herself was really not an easy task? She might be a lot more durable than the average person, but that doesn't mean she wasn't feeling the beatings she got. Of course, it wasn't just her body that hurt - everything her mother said had been echoing around in her head, and while she knew it was because of the red kryptonite... it still hurt. She was currently curled up on Brion's couch, just staring at... nothing really. She hadn't spoken in awhile, mostly because she didn't even know what to say.
Brion: While likely not in as much pain as Caitlin, Brion is pretty damn sore from all of the fighting the past couple of days. Even though his rock-form body is physically able to be shattered and re-formed over and over again without consequence, it still makes his body ache later. Brion hasn't really said much in a couple of minutes and is also just sitting sprawled out on his couch. Thank God this was all over now, because Brion was going to need a couple of days worth of sleep.
Caitlin: Yeah, Caitlin could do with that as well. But sleep was one of the last things on her mind right now, just because her family still wasn't exactly in the clear. They were waiting for the red kryptonite to clear their systems, and Bria was still in the government's custody. She couldn't imagine what her cousin was going through right now. She finally moved, stretching out slightly and moving so she could lay her head against Brion's legs. "I still can't believe Leon actually exists." After Lilah's disappearance from the Watchtower, Caitlin had given the League a brief explanation of how she'd known the name of Lilah's son - when she'd been trapped in the Black Mercy on Mars, she'd had a vision of a family event at which Michael had a son called Leon. But that's all she would say about it.
Brion: Brion didn't move, but lifted his hand and brushed some of her hair away from her face. "That's quite strange, I must admit.." Dreams coming true is something straight out of a fairytale or horror story, not real life. "I'm just glad this is all over." Brion can't imagine how much more difficult this was for Caitlin who was a member of the family.
Caitlin: "I just..." This wasn't something she had brought up with the League, but she needed to say it. "I knew my dad was there. On Mars. Or at least... close enough to help me. But there's no way I could have known that about Mike or..." She shuddered. "I can't believe he went there. Lilah Luthor, god. That's just..." She shook her head. "I wish this all made more sense. For my dad to know about that... he can't be that far away. And she said she could just take him to me. I don't know why, if he's so close, why he doesn't contact me." She curled in against him, her throat starting to close over as tears started to form.
Brion: Brion listened intently, this being the first time he had heard any of this. "Some things just happen for a reason. It doesn't do us any good to question things. In time most questions are answered." He realizes this really isn't much of a consolation, but he notices the tears and wants to maybe keep her from crying.
Caitlin: "I know," she choked out. "And I know why he left, or at least sort of. And I understand, but if he's so close..." She swallowed hard, fighting back the tears. "I don't know what is so wrong with wanting to know more about him! He's my dad, and he's the only other Martian around. But she was so horrible about that and even just adopting me in the first place and I know it was the kryptonite talking but.. she didn't even want me." She honestly did burst into tears at that.
Brion: Brion shook his head, "There's absolutly nothing wrong. Your family wasn't in the right state of mind, don't think another minute on it darlin'." He wrapped his arms around her, "They love you, Caitlin.." He kissed her on the forehead.
Caitlin: Caitlin cuddled in against Brion, her arms wrapping around his waist as she buried her head against him. It was good advice, not thinking about it, but she couldn't help going through everything her mother said with minute detail. Damn her for having such a good memory. "Ari kicked my ass," she grumbled. "I don't think I'm going to be able to move for a week." Just because she was more durable than a regular purpose... meant nothing up against a rampaging Kryptonian teen.
Brion: "Yeah, I don't think I've ever had my earth form shattered as many times in a course of a week." He'll be resting up a lot for the next week. Brion sunk into the sofa a bit more and let his arm rest on Caitlin's shoulder, while his head laid back against the top of the sofa and he stared up at a point in the ceiling.
Caitlin: "So do you think we can just... lie around here for a couple of days? We can order in food and stay in bed all day." How nice did that sound? Spending a stupid amount of time with Brion and not seeing her family sounded just like something she would just love right about now.
Brion: Brion nodded, "I think that could be arranged." He'd of course have to head to work come Monday, but that could wait until then. "I can't think of a better way to spend time." He smiled and lowered his head to look at the top of her head.
Caitlin: Pssh, work. It could wait. Caitlin turned her head up to smile at him, though it definitely wasn't as enthusiastic that she might be otherwise. She just wasn't quite in the mood for big smiles right now. "That sounds great." Caitlin was looking forward to not having to do anything for a little while.
