The Clock Queen's heels clack on the hardwood floor as she walks down the foyer of the mountainside manor she has acquired for Vandal Savage's use. She has also just recently placed a small squad of Santa Priscan mercenaries on retainer. It would simply be poor planning not to have at least a minimum of manpower ready and waiting. She is sure Mr. Savage will have something in mind they can be used for.
Clock Queen enters the dining room just as Mr. Savage is wheeled in by the nurse/bodyguard she hired. Mr. Savage is still recovering from his time buried alive, looking much the same as he did when she found him. Still frail and weak, he subsists on IVs and remains wheelchair bound. He will recover fully in time, but she is quite sure Mr. Savage has spent enough time in such a state.
Fortunately, Clock Queen has come with a timely solution to this problem.
"What do you have for me?" Mr. Savage's voice is raspy. He is positioned at the end of the table and lifts it hand, resting it on the table.
"I've located a number of your relations. They have not been DNA verified, but I feel confident of their identities. I've taken the liberty of gathering information on only those of prime age and physical condition." She sets the file folder she has been holding down on the table in front of him and opens it to the first dossier.
"Have you? That is information surprisingly quick to come by."
"It was a simple matter of going back and using some of the same resources I used in finding your burial place. Not having to start the investigation from scrach expedited the process."
"Efficient." Mr. Savage goes through the dossiers that have been collected for him. Michael Santos, a truck driver living in St. Roch. Dorian Bennet, a department store assistant manager in Mesa City. Lesley Hall, a florist in London. Tomas Bernal, a Santa Priscan prison guard. Rosetta Miller, a low level criminal in the Markovian mafia. Siena Harper, a waitress in Hub City. "Hrm... Harper." Two other Harpers as well, Tyson and Jasmine. Karen Parker, a contract lawyer in New York. Carla Weber, a nurse in Berlin. Victor Castillo, a trainer and community worker in Metropolis. Gerald Scott, a Marine stationed in Bialya, Theresa Aaron, a photographer in Metropolis. Janice Wellington, a chef in San Francisco. The list goes on with a few more names. "Bring me the truck driver and criminal. Their disappearances will go unnoticed."
"I have a mercenary team in waiting. I'll forward them the necessary information on their targets."
Cannibalizing someone who shares his bloodline has a way of substantially improving Mr. Savage's health. Clock Queen is forced to accept her surprise that he would ask for two relations. He clearly wishes to ensure he is back at full strength as soon as possible.
"You can expect them in two days, sir."
