Having lost the Justice League, Nightwing has made the mistake of entering the airspace of Washington, D.C. and therefore picked up the attention of others -- the Freedom Fighters.

Two balls of fire are flung ahead of her, exploding in a blast that gives her pause in the air. This was the desired effect, because it sets her up perfectly for what comes next. While tiny, Gulliver is propelled by Starwoman's baton down at it. He positions himself into a flying kick, increasing his size rapidly at he goes. His boot connects with her back when he is roughly three times her size and crushes her into the ground at a factor of fifteen. He quickly steps off her and returns to his normal size.

The Freedom Fighters quickly take positions surrounding Nightwing, with Starwoman, Firebrand and Ray staying airborne to intercept her if she takes flight. Haunted Tank lands, though. The pilot's compartment opens at the chest, and Liberty Belle exits from the pilot's seat. Haunted Tank then closes back up and takes a position next to her.

Nightwing is told to stand down and surrender. She is not getting past them.

It's a tense moment that lasts for nearly a minute, but then...

"She's going for it!" Agent Liberty intercepts Nightwing's eyebeams with a round force field shield generated from his arm. He draws his holstered handgun and returns fire with energy bursts powered by the same energy powering his force fields. The effect of his shots seem minimal.

Manta Ray lunges forward. Nightwing seems amused and beckons him with her hands to bring it on. Manta Ray does. "IT'S ON!" He slugs Nightwing in the jaw. The impact sends shivers through the ground, and Nightwing is hurled back. Elasti-Girl stretches out her arms, snagging Nightwing's leg and redirecting her into a concrete wall. Firebrand soars over Manta Ray's head with a trail of flame and firebombs Nightwing where she has been cornered.

As Nightwing gets right back up, Liberty Belle tells Ray to go for it. He blasts her with a focused beam of red light. "I have no idea if this is working! Never done this before!" But he's told to keep on it anyway.

Agent Liberty and Manta Ray take on Nightwing together. She's hit in her legs by Agent Liberty with his shield as Manta Ray slugs it out with her. She catches Agent Liberty with a backhand, smashing him into the same concrete she had collided with. His force field aura protects him, though. That just leaves Manta Ray. Liberty Belle has to tell him twice to get clear before he actually does it.

Then Nightwing is battered by sonic waves coming from Liberty Belle. Each wave smashes over her like a wall. She holds her ground at first but is soon thrown back, skidding along the ground. Ray keeps his red laser on her the entire time. Starwoman joins in with a continuous blast from her cosmic baton, as does Firebrand taking a position opposite Nightwing.

"Ground stomper package loaded up, boss!" says a chipper female voice through Haunted Tank's voice synthesizers. Liberty Belle gives the nod, and Haunted Tank fires off four artillery cartridges from the twin cannons mounted on the back. The four cartridges soars high into the air and explode, releasing dozens of mini-rockets all homing in and blazing downward towards Nightwing. Starwoman, Ray and Firebrand break off and take cover just before it all rains down on Nightwing. It's like a volcano has just erupted where she was standing. The ground quakes and cracks. Billows of fire and smoke consume the air.

When it all calms down seconds later, it's Agent Liberty who takes point and goes in. His force field aura protects him the best. He searches through the devastation for signs of Nightwing and finds her. She's laying in the rubble with her costume in tatters and looking battered and bloodied. Agent Liberty reports back.

Nightwing is down.

Called by Liberty Belle, a D.E.O. armored transport moves onto the site to take Nightwing into custody.
