VICTOR | So here it is, Thanksgiving at the Queen/Lance household. For a lesser man this would be overwhelming, but a guy like Victor Castillo can handle this no problem. He dropped off the bottle of wine he brought and was promptly ushered out of the kitchen, lest he felt like getting trampled. Siena'd disappeared a little while ago and left Victor to fend for himself. It isn't that bad, except for Vic doesn't really know where he should start. There's so many damn people to talk to, and Siena didn't give him that much information to run off.
LIAN | Lian Harper had spotted Victor with Siena once they arrived, but had been kept by others who needed help setting things up. After talking to Carmen for a minute, she excused herself to meet Victor since Siena ran off somewhere and clearly wasn't going to introduce her. She smiles as she approaches him, offering him a hand for a handshake. "You must be Victor," Lian says. "I'm Siena's mother."
VICTOR | "Oh, hey Ms. Harper." Victor smiles in return and shakes her head. "Sorry I didn't come by and introduce myself. ...Ain't got a clue who anyone is but Siena and Tay." It'd be fucked up running around introducing himself to people. Damn, Siena. Where was your manners?
LIAN | "There are a lot of people. It can get overwhelming," Lian agrees, trying not to look at him too forwardly. But she does have some comments she will share with her daughter at a later date. "Anyone in particular Siena tell you to look out for?"
VICTOR | "Ain't too bad." Victor can handle this group. So what if they got all them capes in here. It ain't shit to him. He just got shot a few days ago. This is like a damn picnic. ...For now. "No one in particular. Just that I gotta look out for the guys trying to mess with me 'cuz she's bringing a guy over."
LIAN | "Funny that she mentioned the guys and not to watch out for her own mother," Lian smirks, folding her arms across her chest. "They might start stuff but I ask the hard questions."
VICTOR | "Think that she was looking forward to seeing me sweat." Though Siena's not watching this. So she's missing out. Vic chuckles. "Oh yeah? You like to cut right to the chase. Looks like Siena didn't just get her good looks from her mom." Sucking up always works.
LIAN | "Mmmhmm," Lian barely cracks a smile, watching Victor carefully. "Might as well jump right to it -- what are your intentions with my daughter?" Lian does not respond to sucking up.
VICTOR | It was worth a shot. ...Damn, she wasn't joking when she said she liked to cut to the chase. "We ain't really talked about it before." Siena isn't exactly forthcoming. "We takin' it as we go. Don't really see it ending any time soon."
LIAN | After a moment, Lian replies, "Siena's not really one to talk about things, but I am sure you've come across that already." Okay, so maybe she does like to make Siena's boyfriends sweat a little. She doesn't get to meet many of them so she has to have fun while she can.
VICTOR | "A couple times." ..Okay, so it's been more times than that. "It's schway though. Times're good." They're over the little rough patch and they're back to their normal relationship.
LIAN | Lian nods. "Alright. I guess that satisfies my curiosity -- for now." Victor may consider himself off the hook for the time being. At least, with Lian he is.
VICTOR | "You come up with any more questions later just shoot 'em at me. I'm game t'answer them." Victor grins. "You got any advice for the rest of the family?" Vic motions with his head to the rest of the party. That is a lot of people to get to..
LIAN | Lian thinks about that for a second. "Yeah -- watch out for the boys." Wasn't that the same advice Siena gave him? ...And the same advice Lian gave Siena about bringing Victor? How it's true.
DRAKE | The Queen household is experiencing its usual pre-Thanksgiving dinner frenzy, which is a mix of people hurrying around to get things ready, people arriving and people either trying to stay out of the way or fraternizing in the way. Drake Lance sighs a little and starts making his way towards Siena's boyfriend -- the one who uses the Wildcat name in Metropolis. He has to pause as Ollie goes by, but that seems to get Ollie's attention. The patriarch of the family gives Drake a weird look before looking to see Vic in the general direction Drake was heading. He just shakes his head knowlingly and moves on without a word, leaving Drake to continue on towards where Vic is.
VICTOR | Victor Castillo's had a couple beers and made his way around the Queen house. He met a bunch of Siena's family. The shit they were giving him really wasn't that bad. He'd been firing back and laughing along with them. Whatever, it was all schway. He'd been in the middle of talking to one of Siena's cousins, about the big pay-per-view fight last week.
DRAKE | Drake puts himself in position to join in with the conversation, nodding to Tyson Harper as he comes up next to him. "Heh." It's actually pretty perfect that they're talking about the pay-per-view fight. That saves him all the trouble of trying to get the conversation to where he wants it. "So you a fighter? I heard some talk that you are."
VICTOR | Nice to know that they're going to cut the bullshit and get to the point soon. Victor looked at the new person walking up on them. "I been in a scrap or two before." That's selling it short.
DRAKE | Drake nods. "Heh." He turns his head a little towards Tyson, looking like he's speaking more to Tyson than Vic. Though he's really not. "You have to love how many fighters win a few and go on like they're the next Wildcat."
TYSON | Tyson takes a second, but then he chuckles a little. All right. He gets what's going on here. No one gave him the advance warning. He's on board for it. "Yeah, but... from what I've heard, he's not that bad."
VICTOR | "Guess you didn't hear the right people talkin'. I won more than a few." Victor's more than just some chump fighter on the circuit. He's won a lot fights back when he was a professional. And now, he's still cracking heads on the streets.
DRAKE | "Heh. With the skill of fighters today, that's not saying much." Drake lays down the condescending tone some there, like he's sure Vic is good... for that class of fighter. "I believe you won more than a few, though. For what it counts, winning on points and everything." Everyone knows real fighters win by knockout and don't need judges to tell them how they did.
VICTOR | Victor shakes his head. "'Cuz everything's better in the old days. Bullshit." From what Victor sees, Drake ain't even that old looking. "I can tell you ain't seen me in the ring. I knocked people out left and right." Seems like Siena told him to worry about the wrong people.
DRAKE | Turning his head away again, Drake rolls his eyes a little. "Yeah. Someone who passes himself off as Wildcat would talk himself up like that." He looks back at Vic. "Every wannabe champ says how good they are. Especially when they don't have to back it up."
VICTOR | "Pfft. I was given the Wildcat name for a reason. And it ain't 'cuz I'm a wannabe." Wildcat isn't really the name that you give to yourself. Unless you want to get looked at like you're a piece of shit. Ted Grant is a legend. "I can back it up." Victor can take all the shit he gets about being 'the new boyfriend,' but all this shit about his fighting skills is really starting to piss him off.
TYSON | "Whoa, whoa. Hold on." Tyson puts up his hands, feigning surprise about where this is going. "Drake -- come on. Tay says he got shot last week. I doubt he can even really throw a punch right now. Siena's going to be pissed if you get him hurt."
DRAKE | Drake sighs with a little exasperation. "If that's his excuse..."
VICTOR | Okay. They're laying it on thick now. "I ain't gonna throw down with you at Thanksgiving dinner. Ain't got shit to do with me being hurt." Victor smirks. "Tryin' to make a good impression and I can't do that if I'm runnin' around knocking out someone's dad."
TYSON | "See?" Tyson says with a shrug like this validates what he said about Vic not being able to fight.
DRAKE | Drake laughs a little. "You can use whatever excuse you want. It's fine. I didn't expect much else. We all heard even little girls knock your head in over some waffles." He feels he should apologize for his daughter, but now isn't the time for that. ...And Siena probably taught her to do it.
VICTOR | You can only poke big cats a few times before they lash out. Victor looks around to make sure Siena's not around. Victor rolls his sleeves back down. He's gonna have to take this shirt off if he's gonna box. "Alright, fuck that. Who wants to see what I'm about?"
TAY | It sounds as though way more people than just Drake and Tyson are suddenly paying attention, and Tay comes out of nowhere, smacking a pair of boxing gloves onto his chest. She gives him a strained, apologetic look. "Sorrrrrry." She's on orders.
RILEY | That was eventful. Riley Lance was around to watch the boxing brawl in the backyard between Siena's boyfriend and his brother. That isn't to say it was a surprise. He was in on it too, but he had Cam distract Siena. He didn't want to be the one to have to explain to her what was going down. Finding where Vic is sitting out back now, he hands over one of the two beers he's holding. "You're in the clear now. There aren't any more plans for you."
VICTOR | Seems like the entire damn family was in on the little conspiracy to see how this Wildcat stacks up to the other one. "Probably shoulda known about the whole Wildcat-Lance connection." Nope, he's not big into the super-hero history. He only knows about the fighters that Ted Grant has trained. That's the part that got his interest. Victor takes the beer and holds it to his face. He's trying to cool himself down. It's not exactly cold out here despite the fact that it's nearly December. These people here in California are fucking lucky.
RILEY | "You should've. Walked in here with a big target on your face." Riley pops open his beer and sits down in a nearby chair. Lifting a foot, he braces it against the edge of the little wicker table in front of them. "Siena's probably looking for someone to kill right now. That isn't going to work out for her." He pauses to take a drink. "Hey, at least it didn't have anything to do with you being the new boyfriend. Surprise."
VICTOR | His face cold enough, Victor removes the beer from his face and opens it up. Taking a drink of this probably won't help him feel any cooler later, but it's doing a pretty good job now. "Yeah, I was all ready for that usual bullshit." Victor chuckles. "Wasn't expecting the entire family working together to get me to fight one of them. Ain't seen that one before." Siena's family is worse than he thought.
RILEY | Riley just laughs, because the whole thing was pretty funny from his perspective. "It's over and done with, though. It went way worse the last time Siena brought a guy to meet the family." So really, if it wasn't for Vic's other name, he'd be coasting through this entire experience like nothing. That was just some bad luck on that score.
VICTOR | Well he's not the one that has to eat Thanksgiving dinner after getting punched in the face. Victor thought they were just messing around before that first jab to the face and then it was on. "Oh yeah? Better count myself lucky then." What? Did they shoot her last boyfriend with an arrow and leave himself to repair his own wound?
RILEY | "For starters, he got into a fight with LJ ...Oh, that's the jolly green giant walking around." Riley has no doubt that Vic would have spotted LJ by now. The guy is hard to miss. "And that's a plan." It was very funny, though. Riley tilts his head, scratching the side of his neck some. "We were going to have him fight you. Make it sort of a family tradition. But he wouldn't go for it with you hurting already. Heh, my brother stepped up pretty quick. He was one of the ones touching about the whole Wildcat thing anyway."
VICTOR | "Ahh." Yeah. That LJ guy was pretty hard to miss. He towers over everyone else. "Next time just set up a gauntlet." Victor makes a 'keep 'em comin'' hand gesture. That's right, he'll go more rounds if people want to test him some more. "Knock 'em down as they come." Vic's just talking shit. LJ would really be a problem given his reach. Victor tends to people up whenever he meets them.
RILEY | Riley snorts and takes another drink. "Everyone thinks you did good, so don't worry about any hard feelings floating around." He pushes himself out of the seat. He's getting hungry and wants to see if he can managed to steal anything from the kitchen. "Oh, just a heads up though. That's was Tay's dad." Useful to know if Vic is interested in not getting his foot stuck in his mouth talking shit about Drake later when it's just him and Siena -- and Tay's everpresent earshot.
VICTOR | "Jesus Christ, someone make me a chart." Vic's not even sure how these people keep all the names and relationships straight. All he knows is that he passed their little physical challenge. Hopefully he won't be given a pop quiz on the Arrow family. That's something he knows he'll fail.
JASMINE | With all the people and food, the kitchen ahs been turned into a big buffet for people to get their food before heading to sit at the table. Jasmine Harper joins Vic over at the potato area -- where several different kinds of potatoes are waiting. She manuevers to get in there next to him. "Excuse me. Hi," she says with a smile. It's crowded in here, so if Vic wouldn't mind edging half a step to the left... "I'm Jasmine."
VICTOR | Getting a spot at the table reminds Victor of trying to find a spot to eat in the cafeterias at the youth center. Gotta get in where you can squeeze in. Kinda looks like evryone's on an unwritten schedule, trading off so that they won't cause a train wreck. Though it is still pretty crowded. Victor looks a little amazed at the spread. There is so much stuff here. How is that they have so many ways to make some damn potatoes. Oh well. Vic will sample a little of everything. See what it's about. "'Scool. I'm Victor." He steps back to let her in.
JASMINE | Jasmine laughs. "Oh, I know." Everyone here knows who Vic is after the backyard brawl with Drake. She isn't laughing at him for what happened, though. It's a friendly laugh that he introduces himself still after all of that. "I'm sorry for my little brother. I saw Tyson was helping set that up." She was one of the people who didn't know it was happening until it started.
VICTOR | "Oh yah. I'm the guest of honor, ain't I." Since even though he just found out he was coming the day before, they'd already come up with that scheme to see what this Wildcat was all about. He's just trying to be polite since she introduced herself. "And you still didn't say nothin'. That's cold, girl." Victor laughs it off. No hard feelings for any of that.
JASMINE | "I didn't know!" She laughs too, saying it defensively. "Drake and Tyson aren't usually anything to worry about. Now, if it was Riley and Cam I saw you talking to? That would've been suspicion. ...Maybe I wouldn't warned you then. Maybe." She smirks and scoops some potatos onto her plate.
VICTOR | "Uh huh. Heard about you," he says teasingly. He really didn't hear anything except 'watch out for Jasmine.' But she seemed cool so far. "Riley's a'ight. Helped him out with a case. But I got the feelin' I gotta watch out for all the people in this family. Y'all got stuff up your sleeve."
JASMINE | Jasmine would bet Riley wasn't totally on the up and up about whatever case it was Vic helped out on. "That's the family. There's a reason every one of us knows how to watch our backs so well." Say what you want about this family, but there's no denying that it cranks out people who know how to take care of themselves. ...Even if some members feel the need to test that theory out more than others.
VICTOR | After what Siena said about not talking to Riley first, Vic might agree with that. "Gettin' that impression." It's just funny how even though they all different, there some clear qualities they all got. It's been schway to see where Siena come from.
JASMINE | "And you can just watch mine now. I'm leaving since I've made sure I got some potatos before you got them all." She smiles teasingly Though, she does notice that Vic's taking some of everything he can. "Bye Vic." She chuckles and walks off.
