Another long shift waited on me as I punched in my code on the cash register, logging on. I didn't mind, though. It was a good job, and it was fun, if stressful during the dinner rush, and most of the weirdness was handled by everyone else.
Boo sat behind the bar, watching me with a patient gaze, and I patted his head absentmindedly as I reached underneath to retrieve the inventory book to check my stock before I began cooking in earnest.
Then he stood, ears perked and tail wagging, and I glanced up over the bar to see Delilah come in. Not from the front doors, but back toward where Greed's office was.
This Delilah was only a shadow of the beauty I'd seen happily on her husband's arm when they would come by from time to time before, but today, she looked especially bad. I really didn't like the fact she looked that way coming from the boss's office.
"Hey," I spoke up, and gave her a bit of a smile as I caught her attention. "You're early today."
