"True, I wasn't expecting it. But I wasn't expecting that I'd take you in as a lodger either or that you'd get a great big yellow dog that would sleep in my bed." Daniel countered, laughing. Oh, there had been a lot of changes in his lifestyle since Vicq had moved in, and he wasn't regretting any of them. It was just that he'd never expected back then that trying to pick up Vicq. Then again, considering how rare it had been for him to go out looking for sex, that, well, he should have known something strange was going to happen, even if it wasn't as strange as a zombie attack.
He shifted uneasily, his weight moving from foot-to-foot. Vicq was right, he had had the oppertunity, when he was younger and then again, when he was older and single. And he had been curious, but when it came down to it, he was also terribly nervous. Nervous about how it would feel, if he'd even like it at all, if his partner would laugh at him. And on the other hand there was all the social implications. He wasn't some pretty lithe, skinny thing with blonde curls, he wasn't as well groomed as he could have been, he certainly wasn't young. Men like him (and he supposed he was grouping himself together with Harry Doyle and the Aurors and some of the more serious, responsible senior staff up at the school) just didn't do that sort of thing.
"I, erm, I guess I just never..." He began, no idea how to phrase the thoughts in his head, "I guess I just didn't think I could." He finished, and he knew it was a pretty lame answer, but it was true, in a way. He never thought that he could. Or should.
