Kate felt guilty for the way she'd treated Scott when he first came into her life. She felt like they had already had the perfect family and why did Scott need to be there to ruin that? Siblings were often jealous of one another, that wasn't new. But they had come so far since then, hadn't they? She had been the reason everyone started calling him Scott. Now they were all they had.
"I'm sure he's fine." Kate said. She was glad that he had someone to help him out. She couldn't be there for him, not anymore. Not at home at least. But they were here now and she wasn't about to leave him again. She wanted them to be together, and not just because that had been what Jacob wanted.
"I don't really know what to say about me, Jianjun" Kate said, knowing he wanted to hear her say his actual name. It seemed like a lifetime ago since they'd talked at their house. So much had changed since then. "I just...I never thought I would see you again. I never thought I would see anyone." Not anyone living, anyway. She thought she would go to heaven and be with their parents. What happened instead was still hard to process.
