"Not as much as I used to," he said softly. Raphael still visited the family every now and then, just not as much. It was easier to send money and be distant at this point. Oh, he loved his family, but with age he had felt himself more distant. His mother wasn't around anymore and with each year, well, he and his family had less and less in common.
"I can teach you. To be around your family...if you really want to be involved in their lives, but be warned. They will age and you won't. But, mijo, I am not even sure any of our family will show up here. Vampire or human."
His thoughts were still on the fact he had taken innocent lives. When he had climbed out of his grave he had slaughtered not only his sire, but his friends. That thought alone made him bite the inside of his mouth hard. Memories like that would always haunt him and there was nothing he could do about that. He had to remember, even if it made him feel guilty every time.
"When I first changed I spent a long time working at holding a cross again, at saying God's name, and making my warlock's life Hell. It gave me purpose and it annoyed him," his shoulders lifted in a shrug. "If you like, Simon, we can get you to the point where you can say God again." Talking about his past wasn't so awkward once he started. Telling Simon things about himself, well, it felt kind of right in a strange way. He wasn't going to blurt out he had tried to kill himself or that he had killed people, but he didn't mind just talking.
"I was reborn in the 50s." The words came out of nowhere and he gave Simon a pointed look just to see how the younger vampire would react. Their age difference was huge.
