Raphael realized he was dealing with a moody teenager. Dios, was this his life now? That headache was starting to come back as he watched Simon from the corner of his eyes. How was he even supposed to deal with this moment? He couldn't just tell Simon to suck it up and move on, not when he had admitted to the younger vampire something was wrong. That wouldn't be fair, he couldn't just share his own problems and not listen to the other's. Sometimes being the Clan leader was a bit annoying. At least the others were not here with their own problems. He could only handle Simon at the moment.
The question about being family caught him off guard and he gave Simon a slightly annoyed look. "This is about what I said? Dios, Simon." He ran a hand through his hair before letting out a pained sigh. "I meant we are family because we are vampires. We aren't related, but we share something in common. We look out for our own kind and that makes us family. It is merely a term to say we are all connected."
That was such a strange question to answer. Did Simon not want to be family? "So, yes, we are not family like the Shadowhunter siblings. There have been siblings that have both been changed into vampires, but that is different. Their bond is extremely close." His shoulders lifted slightly in a shrug as he spoke. He had never thought of inflicting being a vampire on anyone in his bloodline. He didn't hate being a vampire, no, he just didn't want to make his family suffer.
