who bb and mitchell what movie times and learning things where her apartment when evening, now that the weather has calmed itself down rating/status pg and awkward and FINISHED
Poe was always in her mind, which wasn’t anything new for her, but BB was learning other people were pretty interesting to hang out with as well. She missed her favorite person and nothing was going to change that! Though she had met a lot of humans that had been super nice to her. She may have used the word ‘friend’ a lot while on Earth, but that was what humans did, right? They made friends.
Mitchell was her friend and over the past few weeks they had hung out a lot. He was very useful in helping her learn things about being human. Lots of people answered questions for her, but not everyone showed her things. Rey had showed her food in the beginning, but Mitchell showed her things that she considered fun.
Fun was new for her. Actually a lot of things were new for her and it was interesting. Her brain was firing off thoughts left and right as always, but this time the thoughts were starting to center more on Mitchell. They were going to watch movies and eat popcorn! That was why she was waiting outside her apartment door. Her hood was pulled up on her bright orange hoodie as she mentally cataloged the different movie categories she had looked up. The internets had been most helpful in filling her in and she now knew there was such things a bad movie.
Mitchell wouldn’t show her a bad movie, right? Would she even know what was a bad movie? As she contemplated these things she barely noticed Mitchell approaching. Sometimes BB’s mind went into overload and she wasn’t always aware of things around her.
--- A grin was on the young man’s face as he glided down the street on his rollerblades. In truth the last few days had been so boring, thanks to being stuck inside till the mondo storm left the area. Oh Mitchell missed being free of the house and he missed having the chance to surf and skate. Yet of everything he had missed, BB was probably on the top of that list. For a few weeks now he had spent a lot of time hanging out with his new friend, and while there were times when he was clueless about things she spoke of, well the kid always found being around her just down right awesome.
At first he thought it was because he just really didn’t have a lot of other friends around. After all feeling alone in a strange new place just sucked. Still the more time they spent together the more Mitchell came to realize that he genuinely had started to care for her. She too was in a strange place, away from her friends and family. Despite it all though BB never let it slow her down, and so Goosen didn’t let himself get bogged down in a pity party either. Instead the two of them just seemed to click; teaching each other all kinds of cool new things. Her smarts always impressed the young man to no end, and her help in getting a handle on the weird tech of this age made a real impact on his life. In return he did what he could to help her have real fun, and seeing her smile was so worth it all.
One day soon he planned on showing her how to swim, yet the weather had been to foul for that sort of thing. Heck the kid had even saved up some cash from work and bought BB a brand new pair of bright neon orange roller blades, pads and a cool helmet to match. He wanted to teach her how to skate too, but till the roads weren’t so slick it would have to wait. So instead of all that Mitchell turned to movies, in an effort to show her something new. Well not new new, since the kid had tried and failed to understand or find any cool flick from this decade. Most of what passed for entertainment these days just seemed so violent or gross. However after getting some help from a co-worker Goosen was able to get his hands on two movies that he always found to be awesome.
With that grin of his brightly lit up he glided right up to her door, and a soft warm chuckle escaping the young man as Mitchell playfully winked at BB. “What’s up chica? Got the snackage and flicks in my bag. Hope ya are ready cause I think you’ll dig the Goonies, and the Wizard of Oz!” He spotted that look on her face right away, the one he had come to affectionately label BB’s ‘processing look’. Without missing a beat he chuckled again and gently reached out to so lightly press the tip of her nose with the tip of his finger. “Boop. Earth to chica, ready to get your fun on?”
---
The words kind of registered with her, but it was honestly the finger tapping her nose that caused her to blink several times. She glanced up at Mitchell and a giant grin appeared on her face. Grinning actually came naturally to her, but that might have been because she had seen lots of people smile while she was a droid. It was a sign of happiness and she was pretty sure when she was with Mitchell she felt happiness.
“Affirmative! I am most ready to have fun.”
She scrambled up onto her feet with a minor amount of grace. Strangely enough she was actually getting better at the whole balance thing! She no longer randomly fell over. Those first few days of figuring out how to properly move about had been a real experience. Luckily Vision had understood and had even helped her out. Staying with him had been a real blessing, as much as the time she had found Rey on Jakku! Sometimes BB just found the perfect people to help her out!
“Question. What is Goonies?” She pursed her lips slightly as she searched her database for that word. Nothing. A slight shrug was given before she turned to open up the apartment door. “I’m happy to see you,” she pushed the door open and wasted no time stepping inside.
Part of her was curious about the nasty weather, but everyone had told her to stay inside. BB was actually listening, more so since she had a minor fear of water. Showers? Not a problem. Hurricanes and large bodies of water? No thank you.
“Oh! Statement. I found soda in the fridge! We can have soda.” She glanced back at the human boy before heading towards the couch to sit down. The soda was already on the table in front of the couch, but she hadn’t bothered to open them yet. She normally drank water, but had bought the soda on a whim so she was excited to try it out. --- He loved that smile of hers. Actually the more time Mitchell hung out with BB the more he came to really enjoy just everything about her. Sure the way she spoke took a little while to get used to, but honestly the young man just rolled with it all. If Mitchell Goosen had a superpower, like so many others in town appeared to have, well just going with the flow was undoubtedly it. Nothing ever seemed to really phase the kid much, and no matter what came up he always just appeared to be able to shrug/smile and roll with it all. Plus he knew full well that his own style of speech was a bit odd in this day and age, yet even that was met with a grin on his end.
“Awesome! Well fun shall ensue then, chica. Totes gonna rock your socks with the popcorn and melty m&m combo for sure.”
Her sweet tooth matched his own, if not surpassed it. Heck it was just another thing on the list of awesomeness that he found her ticking right off. It had only been a few weeks but Mitchell knew that he was already a little bit of a smitten kitten when it came to his friend. Still that little crush of his was kept in check since he knew she was still learning how to process everything going on. The last thing in the world he ever wanted to do was confuse BB more, so without hesitation he did his best to push those feelings aside. Granted it was harder to do at times; like when she smiled at him. However again he called on his ‘super ability’ and did his best to roll with it too.
“Um the Goonies are uh...well you’ll see, BB. He considered dropping it there and just letting her see for herself, but a part of him knew that it would be easier to at least give her something to process and understand. “They are like a super cool group of friends who work together to find a pirate treasure in order to save their home. It’s totes a comedy/adventure type of flick and with some luck it’ll make ya laugh too!” Without skipping a beat he followed right behind her, closing the door behind them and pausing to take off his skates to leave them beside the door. After all trailing in anything along the carpet just didn’t seem polite.
It was the mention of the sodas that brought out a giggle from the kid, and with a nod he veered away from her toward the kitchen, where he could microwave up the popcorn for them. “So what flavor did ya decide to get, BB? Betting it was probably the orange one?” There was a real warmth to his tone as he called out from the kitchen, a little joke about the fact that her favorite color was also probably also going to be her fav drink too. It took a sec to toss the popcorn into the microwave but as he waited for it to cook he poked his head out and winked at her again. “So was just gonna bring over the popcorn and chocolate but I may have snagged your favorite candy too at the store. Just wondering if ya are gonna let me try a little this time, or if you’ll have it all to yourself like last time.” ---
A lot of the phrases her friend used were ones she didn’t understand, but the longer she hung out with him the more they kind of made sense. No one back home had talked like him. Actually, the more she thought about it, no one back home really acted like him either. BB had no problem with that, but it really was an interesting thought. Everyone in the Resistance happened to be just a bit stuck up. She couldn’t blame them. Being at war with the New Order would make anyone intense all the time. Except Poe, Poe was just Poe all the time.
She blinked as she realized her thoughts were going back to Poe. Just thinking about her person made her feel that weird feeling that could be described as sad. Luckily Mitchell was distracting her right away, not that he knew that was what he was doing. She sat down on the couch as she felt herself grinning again. Being around Mitchell just made her feel happy.
It was hard to be sad when her friend was around.
“Thought. Han could be considered a pirate.” She pressed a finger to her lips as she thought that over. Maybe Han was a Goonie? He was an awful grump though and it sounded like Goonies were not grumps. “Affirmative! I got orange!” The joke went right over her head as always. BB was not the greatest at picking up on humor. She flopped over on her side on the couch and stared at the bottles of soda. The bubbles of fizz that seemed to move in the bottle reminded her a bit of the medical tanks she had seen in passing. The next second she was popping up into a seated position.
“Excitement! Candy!” She couldn’t help her sweet tooth. The delicious sugary concoctions just seemed to strike the right nerve with her. That become problematic when it came to eating healthy food, but she still forced the disgusting green down. Vision seemed to do a decent job of making sure she ate her broccoli, but she would always love candy. A slightly ashamed look appeared on her face as she tilted her head to the side when he commented on her not sharing. Whoops!
“Theory. I didn’t realize last time? I will share this time. Promise!”
When she was in her droid form she hadn’t needed to worry about sharing. Poe had taken care of her and she had taken care of Poe. Back then there wasn’t any candy to worry about! She didn’t mind being all human like now, but she was still learning all the protocols that went along with being in the body of a teenage girl. Sharing was supposedly caring? “Surprise! Something smells good! Is that the popcorn?”
--- Goosen found himself wondering the same thing about her friend Han for a moment. Not because she had ever really spoken about the person before, but because he honestly came to believe that whatever world she was from...well anything was very possible. A lot of what she had shared; which wasn’t really a ton, made the young man think of the comics and sci fi flicks he had grown up consuming. Still he never once doubted her, nor thought she was making any of it up. Once again, it was just something Mitchell accepted at face value and rolled with.
His smile was practically beaming when she said candy, and another giggle escaped his lips at hearing her tone. In truth he had a bit of a sweet tooth as well, more than most other people.Still BB’s joy over the delicious sugary treats always proved to him that she was definitely more of a sweet-aholic then he would ever be. Oh he knew all that junk food wasn’t good for himself, or for her either for that matter. Despite it all though it never stopped the kid from indulging in the snackage. Oh he made sure to also eat healthy too, and Mitchell had slowly started introducing her to all kinds of tasty fruits, ever since they first met for smoothies and burritos.
It was that sudden look on her face though, that look of shame, that instantly had him on the move. Before saying another word he moved to stand right in front of her, leaning down to look her right in the eyes as he gently reached out to press the tip of her nose again with his finger. “Hey now, Statement...ya didn’t do anything wrong at all, BB. I was just teasing like I do. In fact I made sure to get two boxes of snowdrops, so you could have your own. So no need to feel bad at all. Okay?”
He felt like an idiot in that moment. After all Mitchell knew his friend could be so very literal at times, and he had worked so hard to not confuse her. “Totes promise! Ya are perfect as is, chica. Okay?” The sound of the microwave going off was heard in the background but the young man didn’t make a move away just yet. Instead he remained right there, smiling his brightest smile in an effort to show that he was telling the truth. ---
She went cross-eyed when he laid a finger on her nose again. She straightened out her eyes and stared up at him. “Oh,” was all she managed to say at first. Teasing was something that normally went right over her head. This time was clearly no different. The way humans interacted confused her greatly at times, but at least Mitchell was willing to explain when he was doing something. Not everyone was as so kind. Some people just gave her weird looks or told her to stop talking.
“Joy! Two boxes? That is a perfect idea, Mitchell!”
With two boxes she didn’t have to worry about not sharing. He really did think of the best plans. Well, he was no Poe, but no one really was. She enjoyed her company with Mitchell anyway, perhaps even really liked spending time with the human boy. “Statement. Thank you,” she returned his smile with a radiant one of her own.
Her gaze finally went towards the kitchen where the microwave was doing its best to remind them it existed. A slight beep happened after a few seconds and she tilted her head slightly in confusion. BB had always pulled things out right away so perhaps she had just missed the fact it had an alarm that kept going? That was useful if she wandered off while making something. “Remark. It keeps beeping.”
She looked back at Mitchell and grinned. They were from two different worlds, probably even galaxies, but they managed to get along just fine. He would never have made it in the Resistance, but she found she didn’t want him fighting like the rest of them. The idea of him even getting in an X-wing unnerved her. Mitchell needed to stay just the way he was and not worry about some war.
--- A little sigh of relief left the young man when he heard her say joy. Just seeing the other expression melt away with that brilliant smile of hers had Mitchell’s heart fluttering and his face blushing once again. Yet even as his head felt a tiny bit swirly he just chuckled and nodded as she continue to speak. “Figured we both deserved savoring some tasty goodness after having been stuck indoors thanks to the stormy weather! So no need for the thanks, chica. Just glad to see that ya pulled through it all in one pretty piece.”
When her gaze shifted to the kitchen his followed right along, and a second later he was grinning anew as he headed to grab the big bowl of popcorn. It actually took him a moment to add in the bag of m&m; since he tossed the whole bowl back in for thirty more seconds to get the candy nice and melting. But after the microwave beeped again Mitchell snagged the bowl and headed over to join her on the couch.
Setting the bowl down right before her the young man turned his attention to the television. A month ago he would have had a neigh impossible time working the thing, but thanks to BB it took him no time at all to turn it on and put in the Goonies DVD. “Cool beans! Here we go, chica.” Without saying another word Mitchell moved to sit right beside her on the couch, pausing only to set his backpack on the floor and to grab the boxes of snowdrops and set them down on the coffee table too before settling in to enjoy the flick.
The scent popcorn was so yummy that he grabbed a handful all at once and took a big bite. He didn’t care that he looked like a chipmunk in that moment. Mostly because he was too busy enjoying the salty sweet snackage...and maybe enjoying the closeness and warmth of BB beside him. “Dig in, BB!” ---
The weather had been really awful. BB wasn’t used to rain storms or hurricanes. In space they dealt with meteor showers and that sort. Solar flares were also really impressive! Hurricanes were not like any of those storms, in fact hurricanes were kind of intense. The wind made her ears hurt and the rain made her nervous. Mitchell was pretty good at distracting her from the things that were going on outside. When she was with the human boy she tended to just focus on him and not all the random thoughts firing off in her processors.
“I’m glad you pulled through as well! I’d hate to lose you.”
She made herself comfortable on the couch by yanking a blanket over herself. Blankets were pretty amazing. They managed to make her feel warm since in the apartment she tended to run cold. She loved being outside because the heat just made her all sorts of happy. Hopefully when she went back to her universe she was in droid form again. The coldness of space could be harsh on human bodies and that was something she was not looking forward to at all.
Once Mitchell was back in the room she moved the blanket to cover him as well when he sat down. The popcorn drew her attention and she stared at the bowl with interest. “Joy,” she breathed out before taking a handful of popcorn. The temp barely registered as she popped the whole handful into her mouth. A horrid idea! She slapped a hand in front of her mouth and breathed out to try to cool the popcorn off. “Hot,” she managed to say around a mouthful of popcorn.
Her hands waved in front of her face before she finally managed to eat the popcorn. Chocolate covered her fingers as she flailed some more.
Laughter escaped her, which still sounded strange to her own ears, but she was getting used to laughing thanks to Mitchell. “Remark. Delicious, but a bit hot. Do you always put the chocolate in the popcorn?” She grabbed a smaller amount of the sweet and salty treat as she glanced at her friend.
--- A look of surprise swept across the young man’s face when she slapped a hand against her mouth, and when she said ‘hot’ he chuckled and reached for one of the cans of orange soda. It took a sec to open it up but when he did Mitchell flashed her a cheesy grin and handed it over. “Yep, food does tend to be hot when it just got out of the microwave chica, but this will help.” Just seeing her flail brought out a warmer giggle, and he nodded in agreement to the snackage being delicious.
“I don’t always add the m&m’s, it just sorta depends on the mood I am in. Heck sometimes I love like adding pretzels or maybe some of those lil cheese cracker things to the mix. Toss in a dash of hot sauce and it’s one awesome tasty treat! But if I do that I like to go with the sweeter kettle corn popcorn, cause again ya got the sweet and spicy thing going!” Just hearing her laugh made his grin grow and a tiny feeling fluttered in his chest when she looked over at him.
Being so close was...weird. Not bad weird, but a sorta confusing weirdy feeling. Plus having a blanket over him added to the warmth he was already feeling. He tried super hard to ignore it all, and kept telling himself that it was nothing. Okay, so maybe not nothing, but his feelings were already confusing him, and he really really didn’t want to add to her own confusion. So instead he just turned his gaze toward the remote control, and after a second of staring at it another smile tugged at his lips when Mitchell actually remembered how to use it.
With the click of a button or two the television and the dvd player were now on, and after grabbing a small handful of popcorn for himself Goosen pressed play on the movie. “Let’s get this party started, BB!” ---
She accepted the soda with a nod. Drinking soda wasn’t something she did so she wasn’t sure what to expect. BB took a large swig of the soda and her eyes went wide at the fizzy feeling. Her nose scrunched up as she felt her sinuses burn. What was in this can? She stared at the can in wonder before taking a much smaller swig. That one didn’t burn and she actually got to enjoy the taste. Orange was a good flavor and the soda was sugary!
Listening him talk about popcorn was actually interesting. She gave him her undivided attention as she nodded. There were so many different types of popcorn she was going to have to try! Being on Earth meant she was getting to experience all sorts of new things. If Poe ever showed up then she would introduce him to popcorn as well. He’d probably like popcorn.
The soda can was set down before she grabbed some more popcorn. The stuff was addictive! She made a happy humming noise as she popped the pieces into her mouth. BB wasn’t always aware when she was making noises, it just sort of happened.
Her gaze zeroed in on the television as the movie started. She leaned forward slightly as she read the words on the screen. Wow, there were a lot of rules on Earth! Blinking slightly she leaned back and shifted so she was more comfortable on the couch. “Question,” she picked up some more popcorn. “How long do movies take?”
This whole thing was new to her, but she was enjoying every moment. Being with Mitchell was fun!
--- Those soft little noises she made always made Mitchell chuckle, the cuteness of it all causing his face to flush just a bit. Some may have found it a tiny bit weird, but he loved hearing her hum since it meant she enjoyed the things he recommended. For the most part though he kept his focus on the screen, quietly chewing a few pieces of chocolate covered salty popcorn.
When the question was asked it actually took him a second to think about it, and after a moment he finally spoke up. “Not all movies are the same length and stuff, but if I remember right this one is just about two hours long.” Mitchell paused to scratch his head as he recalled the time he and his dad went to the cinema to see it. “Yep, think that’s bout right. Is that okay? I mean did ya have other stuff to do tonight?”
He wasn’t sure what else to say, realizing that he probably should have told her that first. Still after taking a look around and realizing that Vision was probably out, Goosen shrugged a little. If the V man showed up and they already had plans, the young man figured they could just pick up wherever they left off at another time. For the present though his gaze shifted from her back to the television.
For anyone else this was an old flick, but Mitchell had just seen it a little while ago...or he had, back in the time he was from. Still as the movie played on the kid couldn’t help but to laugh as he watched the truffle shuffle scene again. Around a mouthful of popcorn he spoke up. “ Love this freaking flick!” ---
2 hours didn’t seem that bad. His question caused her to tilt her head slightly. “Negative. No other stuff to do tonight. I was going to read a book later, but it won’t vanish.” Her room was filled with books and different pieces of electronics. Humans threw away the strangest things! BB loved tinkering with the electronics and even had a few up and running at this point.
She did her best to focus on the television screen. Her attention tended to wander when she started to think about other things. Luckily the popcorn helped keep her focused. Though she did find herself glancing at the popcorn bowl as she tried to get pieces of popcorn that had the most chocolate on them. She was still intrigued that chocolate made such a mess, but it was delicious.
Her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she watched the movie. Mitchell was laughing at things and she wasn’t quite getting the jokes. “Remark. I don’t get it,” BB admitted before glancing down at her own stomach. Could she even do the truffle shuffle? She had never heard of that move before. The Resistance didn’t do stuff like that, neither did what few Jedis she knew.
Earth was weird.
As the movie went on she found she was trying harder to understand things. Every now and then she did actually react to the movie, more of the suspenseful moments and actions one. The jokes just kept going over her head, but she didn’t seem to care. “Excitement,” she breathed out as she leaned forward. “Pirates.”
--- The mention of the book was met with a nod, but a second later he turned his attention fully back to her and that smile of his never faltered. “That reminds me, just lemme know when you’ve finished it and we will head back to the library to return it. That way you can check out a few new ones again.” Her love of learning was just one more thing he really dug about her. Heck Mitchell loved kicking it at the quiet library, sitting in the big comfy chair as they sat in silence and just read. He had so much stuff to catch up on, and just being around her had helped with that immensely.
When she made the remark the young man pressed pause, and after considering it he patiently tried his best to explain. Oh he knew this would be a new experience for her, so the young man already figured there would be times when he’d have to offer up some sort of explanation. “No worries, chica. Imagine if uh...well if every time I saw ya, I had to do a funny little dance, before we could start to hang out. Sure sure it’s kinda weird, but the weirdness is what makes it funny. Cause people don’t normally do that sort of thing.”
As the movie played on there were the few other moments when he’d do the same thing, pause the flick to smile and try to help her grasp why something was amusing. Still there were other moments when his own excitement mirrored hers, and seeing the pirate ship was one of those times! “ Man that is so freaking cool! Would love to go on an adventure like that and find treasure with you. Think of all the candy, comic, and stuff we could buy with that kind of loot!!”
The popcorn bowl was nearly empty but instead of fretting he simply moved it back to the coffee table, and before she could frown at the loss of her sweets Mitchell handed over the box of snowdrops as he opened his own. With a teasing wink he gently nudged her with his side, and softly whispered to her as the scene continued on. “I gotcha, BB. No need to worry bout anything.” ---
Even with Mitchell explaining things she still didn’t always get things. They made a little more sense, but she supposed she was just going to have to experience more of life in order to really understand what it was to be human. Before she had arrived in Daytona she had been in a metal body. Poe had always said she dreamed and plotted like a human, despite being a droid, but now that she was human? She wasn’t so sure the thoughts she had before were really human like.
Being in the body of a teenage girl was complicated. Though any body she was in would have been complicated probably. Those thoughts were shoved aside as she focused on the movie and what Mitchell explained to her.
In no time she was accepting the box of candy from him and frowning. She was getting chocolate on the outside of the box! Her lips pursed for a moment before she finally settled on licking her fingers clean. There had been a thought of just using the blanket to clean her fingers, but she was pretty sure Vision would tell her that was wrong.
“Thought. Being a pirate isn’t all glamorous,” she said from experience. Well, okay, so she hadn’t been a pirate, but she had been on board a smuggler's vessel. They were like pirates. “But it would be fun.” Sometimes she continued conversations a few moments after things were said, the line of conversation was sometimes disjointed with her.
The scene on the television had her blinking. Humans really were some strange creatures.
-- Mitchell never minded when she continued to talk, and did his best to follow along with all that she said, granted it wasn’t always easy but the movie paled in comparison to just chatting with her. There was a twinge of something inside him when she licked her fingers, torn between feeling bad about having forgotten the napkins and something else all together. Still he was grateful for the distraction provided when BB mentioned pirates.
Once again he never doubted what she said, simply nodding as he considered just what it would be like to actually be a pirate. He loved the oceans, but then again sailing sorta looked a lot less fun the surfing. “Makes sense that it wouldn’t be as much fun as I thought. Still I was more excited bout the idea of finding the pirate treasure itself, instead of being a pirate!” His laughter rang out as he considered it again and just seeing the pirate captain’s skeleton was enough. “Yep, better to just get the treasure, then be that dusty set of bones!”
A dark blush swept across his face as the kissing scene came on the screen. He had totes forgotten about it, but now remembered seeing it the first time around. Mitchell felt so freaking warm in that moment, and his breath hitched a little as he tried so super hard not to make a peep. Granted he may have turned his head just a tiny bit towards her, trying to see her reaction to what was going on...hoping/fearing what he’d say if she asked for an explanation this time. The truffle shuffle was one thing, but this...well this was a whole different ballpark. ---
Treasure was nice, she supposed, but the adventure was what interested her. Life had been exciting back home. Explosions, battles, reunions, and all sorts of other things had happened. Here? There were hurricanes. That wasn’t exciting. That was annoying.
The movie progressed and she finished off her snow caps in no time. Sugar vanished around her at an alarming pace. Once the box was empty she started to toy with the edges of it, picking at the cardboard. Her fingers stilled when the kissing scene appeared on the television. An eyebrow inched upwards as she tilted her head to the side.
Kissing. She wasn’t a complete idiot when it came to kissing. Oh, she had never kissed anyone, but she had seen humans do it before in her travels. She just didn’t understand it that well. Was it a greeting? Did it mean joy? Why did people kiss? Her lips turned down slightly in a frown as she processed the scene. Human customs really were a mystery to her. Books could only teach her so much and she found herself feeling strange. Why couldn’t she figure out things faster? Why did this make her feel agitated?
BB turned towards Mitchell and flashed him a grin before crushing the empty candy box in her hands. “Remark. This movie has a lot of things going on,” she turned back towards the television and couldn’t help the slight perplexed look that settled on her face.
-- He watched as the credits rolled by and finally gazed over at BB when he heard her remark. Yet before he could say a thing Mitchell noticed the look on her face. “I uh, is everything okay chica?” For the briefest second he thought of just handing her his half filled box of snow drops in an effort to distract her, but even if he was feeling...well awkward and more than a little flush, the young man always wanted to be there for her. To try and help her ease the confusion that tended to creep up on his friend.
Ignoring the screen he shifted slightly on the couch, turning to face her as he studied her features. He hated seeing her looking confused, and after putting on his cheesiest smile the young man chuckled again. “Hey whatever it is, just lemme know. After all we promised to try and help each other, so lay it on me chica!” ---
“Affirmative. Everything is okay,” BB reassured him. Her thoughts just tended to overtake her at times. Her databases reacted differently in a human body then they had in her droid form so she tended to overload on information thanks to her own thoughts. She blinked rapidly before looking at Mitchell again.
Her head tilted to the side again as she stared at her friend. “Question. Really?” She quirked her lips as she thought of how to phrase the questions she had. Finally she turned completely on the couch to face Mitchell, pulling her legs under her. “Okay,” she said as put her hands in her lap. “Why do people kiss? I’ve seen it before, I just don’t understand it.”
A hand came up and she scratched the back of her head. Sometimes her brain itched from all the thinking, but she could never get at that itch. Doing so would probably be a really bad idea. She grinned at Mitchell in thanks since she knew he would answer her questions for her. He really was the best person on Earth!
--- At first he had simply thought there was something about the movie itself she didn’t quite grasp, something broader than just that one scene. Even when she reassured him the feelings of his didn’t quite diminish, though the moment she brought up the kissing his worry melted away and left only...a mix of panic, desire, and something more akin to absolute giddiness.Mitchell had thought of those soft lips of hers before, but always managed to stamp down that thoughts because she was his friend.
Yet in this moment he could barely think straight, and the way his heart was hammering away in his chest didn’t help things at all. Still after a moment of silence, which only served to further darken his blush, Goosen softly spoke up again, though his voice was a tiny bit shaky. “I uh, well...when ya like someone, like like em more then just as a casual friend, then sometimes ya want to express that. I mean, words and stuff work, but our uh...our bodies respond more to touch than to words.”
His body trembled just a little as he held her gaze, and the desire to flee lingered there in the back of his mind. But instead of running he leaned in just a little closer, and his hand reached out to so gently caress the side of her face, brushing her hair back just a little. “I um, i’m not sure words will really do, but I can show ya what I mean if that’s cool.” He paused a moment longer, gauging her reaction before leaning in a little more until his lips softly brushed against her own. ---
She picked up on his shaky voice and wondered faintly if he was having health issues. She was far from a medic droid, but that flushing of the face couldn’t be good. BB knew that humans could overheat and suffer because of that, but Mitchell didn’t really seem that off. He wasn’t passing out on the couch or anything. Which was good since she wouldn’t really know what to do if he did pass out or something.
Her eyes widened in surprise when he touched her face. Tiny little bolts of electricity bounced through her body and she felt her human heart give a faint shudder. Oh no! Was she malfunctioning? Could humans malfunction like droids? Maybe she was more droid then human still? That could be. The last thing she wanted to do was shut down or short circuit. Before her mind could continue with that train of thought she found her brain just shutting down.
Mitchell had kissed her. She sat there stunned and just stared at him for a moment. “I-oh-” Words were failing her as she felt like her brain was misfiring. Her stomach felt strange, rather like she had swallowed bugs, and everything was just weird.
“Statement,” she finally managed to say. “Chocolate.” BB leaned forward and pressed an innocent kiss to Mitchell’s lips. She had no idea why she did it, but she just did.
-- A flood of bliss washed over his mind, coherent thought going right out the window. Oh a part of him slightly felt worried that he was just making things worse, confusing her more than anything else. Yet when she spoke at last he actually made a noise, some mix of a whimper and a giggle. He didn’t expect her to kiss him back, but his eyelids drifted shut when she did.
Instead of pulling away Mitchell softly sighed against her soft lips, and his hand moved to gently rest on her hip. He was no stranger to kissing either, though this was a first for him. For a brief second that confliction remained but it gave way to joy as he pulled her close against him. His gentle kiss deepened a bit more, the tip of his tongue teasing her lips for a moment before seemed to purr.
“Pretty tasty yourself, BB!” Careful not to push her to far he pulled back just a little to catch his breath. Unsure of what to do or say, the young man just blurted out the first thing that sprang to mind. “That was so much better than I had dreamed!” He giggled anew as he gazed into her eyes, smiling so brightly as he studied her reaction. “Can try it more if ya like, chica. Or not. Totes up to you!” ---
Sparks were going off in her head. Her eyelids fluttered shut as they kissed and could see the sparks in the darkness. This was all very new to her and she found herself enjoying herself. Yes, it was confusing, but it was an interesting experience. A startled sound escaped her when she pulled closer to him, but she didn’t resist. Kissing Mitchell was a lot more interesting than reading some book or watching a movie.
When the kiss finally ended again she couldn’t help the confused smile that appeared on her face. Her eyes slowly opened and she wondered faintly if there were now wires loose in her head.
“Overload,” she finally managed to say. All thoughts were trying to rush back at once and she got that look on her face as if she was processing things.
“Thought. This is all so new,” she finally smiled at him. “I am confused, but...happy.”
-- Mitchell felt so out of breath, yet giddy beyond belief. Even as he looked at her, and spotted that look he giggled a little more. Instead of using his finger he leaned in and so lightly kissed the tip of her nose, grinning so wide as he pulled back again.
“Got all overloaded too, cause that was uh...beyond awesome!” The mention of it being new, confusing and happy filled him with joy, and with the nod of his head his hand moved to caress her cheek again as he quietly spoke up. “It’s all good, BB. Feeling the same way as well. How bout we just chill for a bit longer, and I’ll put on the Wizard of Oz?”
Pushing her wasn’t what he wanted at all. Instead Mitchell loved the idea of taking things slow and just figuring out together what this could mean. So with a chuckle he slipped off the couch and popped in the other dvd. A moment later he returned to her side, handing over his box of snow drops as he gently wrapped and arm around her. “Snuggles, sugar, and sweet movies are the best!” ---
