Vicky stared at the buttons. Her lips pressed into a tight frown, the first crack of a very fragile temper.

"And you live on the ninth floor with," she motioned with her hands to indicate the antique elevator, "...this? When are they fixing it?"

The elevator started to slow and lurch to a stop. It didn't need to be fixed, thankyouverymuch.
