Vlad is a deep mystery to you. He is a constant surprise, and that makes you uncomfortable because you have never known anyone that constantly surprises you; you are an observant, shrewd person, and you typically get the measure of a man in the first few minutes you know him, and you are rarely wrong. Vlad is opaque; his motives are beyond you. You like his intelligence, and even though you're not worth anything, he seems to value you. You are worth his time, even if you don't know why.
He saved your life, and even if you don't understand why it was worth saving, you're grateful.
