It's dark and hazy. You're sixteen and have one hell of a buzz. You're with the same group of nobodies that you hung out with last Friday. The night started with a trip to the 7-11 then back to Johnny's place since his parents were out of town. Perhaps, you mused, it's not smart to be out on the front lawn drunk where everyone can see.
Lighting the tree on fire wasn't too bright either. But you're all bouncing and laughing about the stupid shit you did...right before the cops and fire department show up.
"Everybody put their hands up and step away from the--crap not you again."
You're grinning because you know they mean your handsome self. "You rang?" "Get over here, Will." Surprisingly, you do as you're told. But that doesn't mean you're going to go quietly "What? Donut shops sold out? See Tubby over there knows what I'm talking about high five!"
The officer is exasperated. You knew that before they even showed up. "Will, this is the second time this week you've pulled a stupid stunt like this. We're gonna take you down to juvie." "Yeah yeah," you huff, "and now you get to fill your quota and get the toaster." Out of the corner of your eye you watch as Tubby's got Johnny. The other guys, the wusses they were probably ran off. He turns you around and you oblige as he handcuffs you.
"Will," the officer, Jones you think he is, tries to appeal, "this has got to stop. You're a smart kid and you're throwing your whole life away. What is your mother going to say?"
Your cocky grin falters. You blame it on the booze. "Who gives a fuck? Nobody asked you." Because of that, you feel the need to man up. So you puff out your chest and idiotically resist entering the cop car. "Get in," he tries. "Get fucked," you assert as though it was the most brilliant retort ever. After a struggle, Tubby appears out of the corner of your eye and before you can do anything, there's 10,000 volts running through your body and you're shaking like a chihuahua with a caffeine addiction.
Motherfucker is your last thought as you spasm into fading blackness.
