Ella took that in carefully, catching the stall and the recovery. Leah, it seemed, was not a reader. She didn't hold that against her, though. It was just one more thing about her sister to add to the information folder currently being compiled in her mind. She was quick witted, though, because her recovery was smooth and didn't actually verbally give away her weakness.
She looked over at Ed, and she smiled as she tipped her glass to him. "I think she's right, Valmont. I think you're wickedly outrageous and a breaker of hearts to boot." She glanced back over at Leah. "Tell me what you think Leah is like; a reciprocal first impression, if you would?" she asked, putting down her glass and moving around the table to light the two candles in the center, casting a soft glow into the room once she dimmed the main lights.
