"Charming men should always come with a warning," Ella explained with a smile, as she held out one glass to be filled and handed it to Leah once it was, then holding up the next for Ed to fill also. "Don't you think, Leah?" She smiled at Ed as she asked, an entertained little smile that spoke to the fact that she was fairly certain she had him pinned, his character.
She lifted her newly filled glass to her lips, and she turned her attention to Leah more fully. "What do you think, Leah? Size him up," she suggested. Her purpose was twofold, really; she wanted to let Leah talk, to learn the cadence of her voice, and she wanted to see how the older woman thought, how her mind worked.
