Who: Vlad and Kane What: A hopefully successful attempt at an apology. Where: 1006 When: Forward-dated to after this... and when Luca is off somewhere else. Canoodling. Warnings: Awkward times, possible swearing. More may be added.
Vlad was still seething days after his encounter with Luca. He was well aware of just how close he'd come to losing control, and needless to say, the man was certainly never going to be his friend. It was hardly a loss, since he considered Luca nothing more than a spoiled fool - but the more he thought about it, the more he couldn't stand the idea of Kane staying with someone like that. That was hardly the sort of man who could, or would, remain with one person for very long. Eventually, he knew that Kane would be cast aside, not to mention the fact that he would likely revert back to being the cowering weakling he'd been when Vlad first met him.
Well, that wasn't going to happen - not if he had anything to say about it.
He observed Luca for a few days, recording when he left his apartment and when he returned; until he finally felt confident enough to pay Kane a visit without having to worry about the apartment's main resident being there.
Vlad had rarely apologized in the course of his life, and when he had, he had almost never been sincere - apologies, he found, were useful to improve one's public appearance and gain sympathy. He was good at appearing sincere when he truly wasn't, but this was different. For what was possibly the first time in his life, he actually was sorry... if only a little.
He hadn't known that he'd made Kane cry. After much consideration, he grudgingly realized that he was partly in the wrong. He'd said things he shouldn't have said, and in some ways, Kane had been right. He had been emotionally distant, cold, and often times unnecessarily harsh. He was certainly never going to be warm and caring, but he supposed he could at least try to be a little less... threatening.
So he decided to leave his pets at home, doubting that the presence of Cain and Abel would make things any better. When he was sure Luca was out of the building, he took the elevator down to the tenth floor and, after a moment's hesitation, knocked on the door of 1006.
