Odd? No, actually. Most men of wealth and power Peter had come across seemed to be on the reserved side, come to think of it. Being conservative yet aggressive were the ways they tended to hold on to their money and their power. Peter didn't need to know what Vlad did with the acquisitions he acquired, it was simply Peter's job to see that he acquired them. That the deals got made, the lawsuits were won, the problems went away.
It had actually been quite a learning experience for Peter, working for a man like Vlad as he had to know lots of different kinds of law from investment law, to real estate law, to intellectual property to criminal, to tax and so forth. He felt he was getting a very broad base that would make him hirable by any large firm when he felt the time came to move on to bigger and better things.
And the attorney/client privilege was something that Peter took very seriously, as do many young lawyers as they are fresh with the knowledge of legal ethics.
"From my experience, most men of power and wealth keep their personal lives...personal. I have access to several aspects of his life. I have to, to fight the battles I need to fight," he said in a very lawyerly way of answering without divulging too much information.
