In truth, Peter knew very little about his employer on a personal level. He knew the mans business, at least what he chose to involve Peter in, like the back of his hand. He knew where money was kept, he knew where assets where horded. What his boss needed them for? That was something he didn't know, and he didn't need to know to get his work done. All Peter needed to know what how to handle it and what outcome Vlad eventually wanted and it was up to Peter to make it so. What Vlad did with the outcome was none of the Kelly's business.
"You know, come to think of it, business is pretty much all we talk about save for minor small talk." It got Peter thinking that maybe, just maybe, he should know a little bit more about the man he worked for. Just to know. It's not as if he thought Vlad would try to screw him but he really didn't know much about the meat of the man. He was authoritative and cordial at almost all times but that didn't mean he truly knew anything about him.
