The lack of a response was hardly surprising, but it was faintly amusing nonetheless. Vlad was positive that Shane had no proof of his crimes, and neither did Emil, but they seemed to think that empty threats and poisonous glares would somehow compensate for that. After all, who was likely to believe a crazy man and his accomplice? The dogs' reaction, however, intrigued him. He had heard that animals had a sixth sense about certain things - but was this merely a case of pets sensing their master's disdain for someone? The elevator seemed to be moving slower than usual, and he was reminded of why he tried to avoid it in the first place.
Perhaps it was his curiosity, his disdain for the other man in the elevator, or just the fact that he should have reached his floor already. Regardless, Vlad decided to test his theory. He suspected that there was something about Shane that the dogs could sense, and he wanted to know what. He was certain that he couldn't understand Romanian, which meant he wouldn't be able to understand what he was telling his pets to do... or not do.
Vlad loosened his hold on the leashes, just enough so that Cain and Abel could approach Shane if they wanted to; but he would still be able to pull them back if they tried to attack.
"Du-te inainte," he said quietly, moving his lips as little as possible. The dogs hesitated for a moment at the prospect of no longer having to sit still, but quickly got to their feet. They approached Shane slowly, Cain ahead of Abel, sniffing the air warily. Cain began to growl again, offering a glimpse of his formidable teeth; while Abel seemed torn between investigating further and backing away, matching his brother's growl. Vlad merely watched, his head tilted to the side.
