Customarily, the curious cat opened the entreaty of the earnest little book instantly once she'd gathered it from his grasp. The first few words were roved over by her desirous eyes, which somehow grew more capricious when offered a new thing to examine. No, she'd thought to herself, it'd be best to read it later when, as ennui sharpened its talons like a hungry vulture, boredom would circle her imaginative head. She shut it and looked up at him with a thankful, sweet smile that could inspire cavities and remarked thoughtfully. "Would you like to borrow something of mine?"
It was obvious the thought of him borrowing something of hers excited her. In fact, the whole book exchanging idea excited her.
"Rather than have to endure me reciting things on occasion, and feeling out of the know?" whether that was a promise or a threat was as yet unseen, though the gleam in her eye was playful. "You don't have many books I recognize... we're very different, you and I. You're my antithesis." She drummed the top of the book he'd volunteered her with her fingertips, bringing it to her chest to unsurprisingly cross her arms again, the sound echoed like a chasm. "I can bring it for you, or leave it at your door."
She probably wouldn't listen if he said no. Just as she liked surprises, she liked to surprise. And so she began walking past him and toward the door. The locked one. The one she was so desperate to leave through earlier, but for some reason hesitated to now.
