What could you say to that? Aiden didn't know what it really was to feel trapped; Van Helsing, as much as the man was a burden and another self to have to be bound to, was at least considerate and, as people told him, not completely insane. He wasn't a vampire girl bound to be killed as a matter of course, forced into an undead servitude she barely knew. Her hands pressed to her face and he glanced away to give her some privacy.
"I know what you mean, but ... I suppose I'm in a different way." Lucky him to have someone with a similar goal. How fated was that? "I don't know if they're doomed, like you said. They break out of their roles here, obviously. They do things they shouldn't." Van Helsing's words and thoughts echoed in his mind, somewhere above the faint sounds that weren't his own thoughts. "Maybe we can break out of this. It should be possible." Though part of him insisted that even if they did fix their roles, everything would go right back to the way it used to be when they left, or died, or whatever. "They're their own people. Uncontrollable."
He was absolutely sure this was helping her. This really was not something he did well. Aiden fidgeted with his drink before finishing it off and dropping the mug into the sink, the bitter taste of the tea lingering everywhere in his mouth.
