If she was going to go on the subject first, he wouldn't try to stray from it. It was a little of a relief not being the one to bring it up, but of course now he had to admit to having the letter and not getting back to her.
"Yes, I got it." A longer, and even more awkward, pause than before. "I meant to get back to you sooner, but I ... didn't." At all, a snide part of him added mentally. "That time traveling business was unlike anything else this place has done before. We've never been privy to our 'other sides' like that before - they've never been a direct influence, as far as I know. Whatever happened there, whatever you experienced was her, all her. Trying to make you into more of her, probably."
Or just influence her. Aiden wasn't sure how many people's other sides wanted them to turn into who they were; most just seemed dedicated to ruining the lives of their counterparts, whether they realized it or not (thank you, Van Helsing). He didn't know how to tell her in any other terms that it probably wasn't her fault if she'd killed people in Russia - or hurt, or just inconvenienced, whatever - but she seemed to be accepting the fact, anyway. It was lucky he'd run into her last night. Otherwise ... well, who knew.
