It was much easier to relax and laugh about it now that their misunderstanding had been cleared up, and she made a mental note to try to sit Lotte down and explain that assuming things was a sure way to make things awkward and blown out of proportion. Or maybe that would do more harm than good. Hannah hadn't known whether James would be cooking or not, so she kept her expectations neutral and barely blinked then she picked up the take-out menu. As far as she was concerned, Chinese food was perfectly fine.
"Really?" It doesn't quite click yet, so she simply pulls a sympathetic face. She takes another sip of wine before it sinks in, and she has to fight back the urge to cough in surprise. Wait, what? "That's... well, it's sweet that she thinks they always go together." Clearly there was more of a misunderstanding here than just Lotte's, but she had no idea how to bring that up. All she could do was hope that it was just one of those offhand comments and didn't actually... mean anything.
