She was absolutely disgusted with herself. Leaning against his chest, she latched her arms around him, sniffling once before falling silent. Despite the whirlwind of panic and confusion that was consuming her, she felt calmer and safer bundled up in his arms. When he mentioned the fire, she cringed. "I'm sorry," she whimpered, arms tightening around him slightly without any thought to his healing ribs.
As he finished, she reluctantly detached from him so that they could face each other. The tears had thankfully never fallen, allowing her to salvage a small scrap of dignity. "I don't want to leave a void, I-" She paused, realizing that she wasn't exactly on topic anymore. Pressing a fist to her forehead, she took a short breath before looking at him again. "I don't need time. Really." She paused before taking one of his hands. "I don't...want to stop being with you. At all."
