He opens his eyes to find himself in the center of the science center. He blinks to orientate himself, before turning slowly. It's empty and the air feels chilly - the only place in the Yard with air conditioning, he remembers. Goose bumps rise on his neck and bare arms, but Xavier refuses to rub at them. He keeps his teeth clenched and his chin up as he scans the empty halls. No one is there and through the glass, he can see it's night.
So he snuck in then. A bitter smile crosses his face as he steps towards the cafe. He'd done that before, so being there now, it shouldn't be disturbing. He didn't want to be in the science center though, the coolness disturbing him as well as the emptiness. The crush of people that were usually there would have been welcome. Even though Xavier is usually alone, it doesn't mean that he likes it.
Despite this, he moves the cafe stand pulling up the iron bars with a heave. He holds them up with one hand as he reaches for the pastry case. Rationally, alarms should sound at this, but with the same knowledge that this was a dream, Xavier knows they wouldn't go off. He is in control of that, even if he couldn't change the temperature. A cookie, the best on campus, was taken before he lowers the metal bars. Chewing thoughtfully, he sets out the front doors and to the yard.
The grounds change on him, each step down the front stairs making the sky change and the air warmer. By the time he's at the last step, he's stepped into a blank space, pure darkness. The only light is shone on him and on a table and two chairs steps away. He frowns at them for a moment, not liking what they represent, before sighing. With even steps, he moves to the chair to the right, seating himself in it. One ankle rests on his knee as he waits for whoever it is that will come.
