Oh God, he was not getting all scientific in the middle of a graveyard while they were probably breaking countless laws every minute. Cole tried to actually listen instead of just nodding blindly, even though the last science he'd taken was eleventh grade biology. Needless to say, it had never been his strong suit.
Maybe it was his sleep-deprived state, but even though the words were hard to focus on, they did make a little sense - even though he couldn't help thinking Archer viewed this entire situation with a sort of clinical detachment that was more than a little unsettling. "So... like the natural world, our goal is to attain a sort of balance. But sometimes we overdo it... or don't do enough." His gaze fell to the half-filled grave. Trenton had never reached that balance, had he? It was either one extreme or the other, always missing the middle ground. "Huh," he said quietly, before shaking himself out of his daze and getting to his feet. "I can finish up, if you want."
