Cole watched Archer dig with evident weariness, wanting nothing more than to go back to his apartment and try to get some sleep. Failing that, curling up under the covers with the darkness was a decent alternative. Then he could start thinking about what to do if people asked where Trenton was, and if it came out that he'd been involved with burying the body. Somehow, he doubted that anyone would really care, and the thought made him feel even more guilty.
He offered the ghost of a smile when Archer said he needed a break, getting to his feet. "I don't mind. I--" He stopped, realizing he couldn't say I've done this before without giving the wrong impression. "I don't mind," he repeated lamely. He took the shovel and began to dig again, but this time the silence wasn't enough for him. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but... how did you get involved in this? I mean, how did you acquire his body?"
