"Maybe I can distract you from it," she said with a smirk as he nuzzled into her hand. She nodded as he seconded her hope that the Dorothy girl had left. Joanie knew nothing about her - not her name, not her apartment number - and had thought she was an obnoxious little brat after their first meeting. But even obnoxious brats didn't deserve to get attacked, and if the Wicked Witch came out during the next full moon, Joanie didn't doubt the woman's resolve to inflict pain on the petite redhead.
The question of leaving made her pause, frowning slightly. "I think everyone here has thought about it," she said, knowing it was a crappy dodge. "But...as bad as it is...there are good things." She gave him a thin smile. "Right now, I think my only other option would be moving into a tower, and those are drafty."
