Vlad didn't sense a change in her demeanor, nothing malicious or barbed beneath that warm smile, but as someone who was quite skilled in the art of pretense he knew it was quite possible that this was all an act. He didn't know very much about Jane, although from what he'd heard she seemed to be one of those rare genuinely nice people. Sometimes rumors were just rumors, though.
"Hm." He barely glanced at the young man who radiated awkwardness, vaguely registering that he looked faintly familiar - but there had been a lot of people in the crowd in Russia, and it made sense that he would run into one of them eventually. The other man didn't look the least bit familiar and was therefore ignored, at least not until he knocked into Jane.
It was out of pure reflex that his gaze rested on the two of them, and his eyes widened a fraction when the woman's features changed from Jane to someone much more familiar. It took him a moment to realize what happened, but everything clicked into place quite easily. Oh, it made so much sense - she could change her appearance, after all, and why not assume the identity of Daniel's former love? It was so very Vaughn that he almost wanted to laugh.
Instead he smiled, although it was a far cry from the honey-coated curve of politeness he'd previously worn. "Well, well. This is quite the unexpected surprise."
