Surprisingly, Iris shook her head. "No, but we are both entirely too estimable." She indicated the sling with her good hand after turning the heat on under the water. "Fortunately Eliot has left, and if my luck holds out, he'll stay away." Iris said this with a particularly shadowed glower at the teakettle. She gave herself a little shake, another indication of how few of her natural barriers existed around Evan, and then looked over at him.
The confidence was good. This new ability of his would prove doubly useful. Iris had plenty of blindspots, and though her protege may have been better served by someone who would ask what he would do after his plans completed, she said nothing of a kind.
