Ah. Then he should have assumed it then. "I'm sorry to hear that," Xavier said, honestly. The look that he gave her was honest, until he shook his head a moment later. He could ask her what happened in a moment, once they were inside and away from everyone else. Unlike her, he didn't have a reason to worry for his life or secrecy - and he had a fair enough guess on her actions to know that she wouldn't do anything foolish unless he did.
Xavier inclined his head slightly as he slipped inside, stopping a few steps in. The emptiness wasn't what he expected, far from it. "You're new too then?" he asked, turning back.
"And no, I'm not other than the lack of change the evening before was disappointing." He looked past her shoulder before stepping back, putting his briefcase on the floor. Wiping his hands on his pants, he looked up at her. "Could you shut it please? I don't see anyone but with my luck, Gina will drop by with welcome cookies for you." That name should have been enough, but he stepped to the side out of the view of the door. A hand went up and he wiped away his mask, leaving the blue-eyed, paler, and more straight-featured Edward (and in this case Evan). "I really am sorry."
