Hannah tried to recover from the realization that James was that woman, but she'd already been caught off guard and her embarrassment was all too evident now. She didn't want to be rude, but she didn't want to stick around any longer than she had to either. She'd encountered people from her distant and not-so-distant past before, but at least then she'd had some sort of warning before a face to face meeting. This had been completely unexpected, and the fact that it didn't seem to bother James just made it worse.
"Uh-- right. You just have to sign this, and if you could just sum up how long you've known Lotte and why you think she'd be a decent pet owner in the blank spaces here." She pointed at the necessary areas on the form, pulling a pen from her pocket at the same time. She might have been cutting a few corners, but Lotte had never owned a pet before and her genuine eagerness didn't fit the profile of someone who would abuse their animals.
