She was used to skepticism, so it didn't really faze her when James viewed the process with a tone of clear disbelief. Some shelters and adoption agencies did thinks differently, but considering the state of some of the animals that hers took in, they'd decided to instill extra precautions long before she started working there. "It sounds a lot worse than it is," she said with a small laugh. "The questions are pretty basic and the form is just something to have on file."
Hannah's amused smile still remained, although it was slightly sobered as she shook her head. "I know most people think it's just a pet, so why the big deal, but we make it a priority to make sure our animals are going to good homes. I've seen what happens otherwise." People were, unfortunately, very good at hiding their true selves when they wanted to. "Anyway, it won't take very long." Some people chose to make it difficult so it moved a little slower, but Lotte seemed nice and if she'd given James as a reference then she was probably alright too.
