Who: Xavier and Sam
What: Business talk. Oh and power disabling.
Where: 904
When: June 24th, 8:00 PM
Warnings: Swearing?
Notes: Xavier gave Sam a call, assumed ooc, switching their visit from Monday to Thursday. Timelines suck.

He didn’t expect much of the visit – it was business, just related to the building. He’d done a bit of research on Madin’s zoo, digging deeper than what the press releases said. He had a few guesses on what was going on there, but didn’t really care. In his opinion, humans came before animals. He didn’t advocate animal cruelty, but in the name of the right cause – well, this was science and improving lives. Some sacrifices had to be made.

Leaving his apartment at five-to, Xavier was perfectly on time when he showed at Sam’s door. A picture placed on the wall offered enough of a reflection for him to check his illusion – he had not done anything in the world of his “usual” disguises or changed his clothing. While in reality he wore a casual pants and a collarless shirt, he looked like he was dressed in slacks and a dress shirt. The joy of it? He didn’t even sweat from the clothes. His eyes were dark and his nose slightly more curved than usual – and he looked, a tad healthier than he usually did. Some things, not even time could fix. Make-up or these illusions could hide his pallor, nothing else worked.

Satisfied, he knocked on the door, ready for whatever would occur.

He laughed a little at the handshake comment, picking up the beer bottle and tossing it into the recycle bin from where he sat - ten points! "Nah, I don't see any reason why it should happen again," Sam said cheerfully - meaning, don't give me a reason to use it and I won't. "But sure, we can forgo the handshake. I'll work on that though," he added, thinking it over. There had to be a way to do it mentally, probably with practice too. Otherwise he'd have to start wearing gloves or something.

The meaning of that comment was clear enough and Xavier nodded, amusement settling on his face. "Good. Let's hope it stays that way then." He moved to the door, business concluded and the ability to leave back.

"I'll let you know when the contract's done," he said. "You mind if I let myself out? I've got a busy day tomorrow." His grin was more than rueful, but the reason why couldn't be said. The fact that he was going to see his one-time fiancee for the first time in twelve years? No, it couldn't be important at all.

"Sounds good. And sure, no problem. Thanks for coming over," Sam replied, getting up to see his guest out. Even though every step felt like a katana blade was stuck in between his ribs, it was still the polite thing to do. "If you need anything else..." he shrugged, his hand on the doorknob. Even if Xavier wanted to stop by for more philosophical discussions over beer, that would be perfectly kosher. People who walked around acting like they had it all usually didn't.

People always used that phrase lightly. They hardly meant it seriously - in terms of evading the law, helping commit a crime, saving a life in an emergency. It was in terms of borrowing a cup of sugar or a piece of advice. But Xavier meant it when he said it and would hold others to it as well. His smirk spread and he said, "You as well. With anything at all."

He slipped out the door, before heading out the door. The stairs were climbed quickly and the door unlocked in seconds. Once locked - deadbolted and with several additional precautions, Xavier let his illusions fall once more and let his head slam against the nearest wall.
