To sacrifice your own existence to save your friend was a grand gesture, and the very fact that Max offered it in the first place meant a great deal. If things got out of his control and it came down to a bottom-line decision like that, then it really was a question of Max ceasing to exist or his own life being destroyed. He'd have to leave for good, and even though he knew he wouldn't be living in Bellum forever, if he was going to leave then he wanted to do it on his own terms. "You have no idea how much I appreciate the sentiment, but I swear that I will do everything possible to make sure the situation never gets that far."
Vlad sighed heavily at the mention of a 'psychic chick on the eleventh floor'. "Esme. I wish I could tell you she knows nothing, but unfortunately she is as genuine as a psychic can be. She and I... do not get along very well." That was an understatement, considering the fact that she'd not only threatened to kill him but Helena as well. "She lived here before, but left for a few months because she literally became insane. Brian might not believe whatever she says, and her... predictions or whatnot are not always specific."
