Re: Near the stairs
Stefan would understand, eventually. The building kept upping the ante on shitty things to do to their residents, so time travel wouldn't be too far out there for his comprehension. But that was later. Right now, Illy was hurt and the medics were helping him and that's all he could really understand. Cole was in a daze and refusing to leave her side, and while Stefan wanted to throw him out of the ambulance, his own shock was settling in.
He let them go, not bothering to insist on a seat, knowing there wouldn't be any room, and simply made note of what hospital they were being taken to. He stood in the lobby and looked around, all the people and all their injuries finally hitting him like a ton of bricks. Rosalie... Esme... Wondering if they were hurt also made him scramble. He didn't find them in the lobby, and Illy was momentarily set aside - but not forgotten - as he reached into his phone and started calling both of the other women, hoping they had escaped whatever disaster this was much like he had. And if he couldn't reach them, he'd ask around to see if anyone had seen them. Then he'd make his own trip to check up on Ileana and Cole. So much for a quiet night at home.
