Joanie Wicker | The Wicked Witch of the West ([info]wickedwicker) wrote in [info]bellumlogs,
Re: Outside the Palace
Joanie nodded. "Okay. Hold them off." Without another word, she set to work. She stacked snow with one hand while running her other over it, muttering a string of words that sprang to her tongue as if they were just waiting to come out. Within a minute, she had created a metal wedge that aimed into the crowd. Beckoning to the nameless woman (Mina), she aided her in lifting the nearest stake and resting it on the top of the wedge. It was difficult work, but the other woman's massive strength helped them make it. Balancing the stake, Joanie looked to Ella.

The not-witch created a series of vines that ran from the tip of the wedge into the crowd. As she did that, Joanie set a branch alight and laid it against the large stake. It caught fire and after a few moments was burning brightly. Once it was roaring, the powerful woman and Joanie released it, allowing it to roll forcefully into Ella's vine barricades that the peasants were chopping down.

As the fire spread, the four "witches" ran towards the woods. Joanie moved slowly behind them, focused on creating a series of chest-high metal barriers that would slow the progression of both the peasants and the fire as the women retreated. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Joanie recalled that more residents of Bellum could have been trapped there. But she wasn't thinking properly. Her adrenaline was gushing seemingly from every pore, and all she wanted to do was make them pay while getting the hell away from her near-death experience.
