He was willing to give them one chance to comply without any trouble, but after that his mercy ran dry. If he could avoid a confrontation it would be preferable, since he was fairly sure both Lotte and James already thought he was dangerous, and stabbing someone wouldn't exactly be something that was easy to forget. Bran didn't look back when James started to speak, although he thought the presence of a woman might help their case.
When the two men shifted, looking as though they might get up, he took a warning step forward - a silent confirmation that their polite request would only be asked once, and a refusal would result in the knife burying itself somewhere in their body. Once again Erik instructed him on what to say, even though he thought Bran's French was absolutely terrible, but apparently the threat of bodily harm was understood enough by the Frenchmen to make them yield. Exchanging glances, they nodded slowly and gestured at what they had. Smart men, Erik chuckled.
Still pointing the knife, Bran turned to James. "I'll make sure they sit still. You get the food and water."
