Lotte had forced herself to keep quiet, as Lucas abruptly left. Christine was in too much of a position of panic to protest the fact that she hadn't gone down willingly, like Lotte felt. Brian leaving made her stomach sink and she didn't even try to return his smile - instead waiting in the horrible silence, until Bran broke it.

She didn't respond, simply following him. There wasn't any chance that she'd stay on her own in this city - and she knew not to trust Bran. It was simply a way to not be alone. She didn't hide the fact that she kept her eyes on him, staying a few steps behind. If he'd been anyone else, if she could still trust him and believe he was a safe person, she'd have kept at his side.
