Vlad hadn't been particularly worried in the first place, so when their interrogators apologized and sent them on their way, he simply nodded and followed the others out into the hall. Helena might be here, somewhere; but he couldn't risk trying to find her. They knew his face now, and if their story was to stick then he couldn't be caught wandering around. He stopped short when Javert called out, turning reluctantly to see what was so important, pausing when he saw the boy. Ignore him, Dracula snapped, but he followed Daniel back to the end of the hall regardless. The boy was small and sickly, which made his identity painfully obvious.
He knew he should have just ignored Alexei and kept walking, but something prompted him to crouch down to the boy's level while the others kept an eye on the hall. "You are Alexei, yes?" He scanned the hall before nodding, speaking barely above a whisper. "Are you here to help us?" When Vlad hesitated, the boy tugged at his sleeve. "Please, will you help save my family?" He glanced back at Javert and Daniel, shaking his head lightly. "He wants us to help him," he said quietly.
