"Considering the language choices, out of town would work best." He began to pace back and forth, an unconscious action as he thought. "It's highly unlikely that they would understand Spanish, but French would work." He frowned. "You can tell your Javert that if we end up being shot for aiding Nicholas, then he dies as well." Dracula gave him enough problems as it was, but at least he was somewhat reasonable and didn't put his stupid pride before their survival.
Vlad shook his head at Daniel's suggestion, moving towards the door to see if he could hear anything. "This palace is guarded, and we have no weapons or anything like that. As long as we can convince them we pose no threat, they should let us go." He could hear distant footsteps coming from somewhere outside, growing louder with each passing moment. "Alright. Daniel, you come from Germany, Luther comes from France, and since I know Russian I'll say I was... born here, but recently returned from the Ukraine." Trying to keep his history straight was confusing, but if they were going to be questioned then they had to try to do it right. "Try not to be too specific. Just answer their questions and make it clear that you have no loyalty to the tsar. Ah... it would be best if you said you moved here a couple years ago, Daniel, rather than recently. Russia and Germany are not on the best of terms right now."
