The inspector is hiding something, or else he would have given names. Perhaps Van Helsing was with him. Vlad shook his head irritably, since they had much bigger problems than Aiden or his counterpart. "I have no idea where they are now, Daniel. We took shelter in an empty house last night and I last saw them this morning before we went looking for food. Then I was brought here." If they were lucky no one had caught up with them yet, and they were either back at the shelter or still out there somewhere. "But I'm sure they are alright."
He was still trying to determine what year they were in, but it had been a while since he'd learned about the Romanovs and some details were blurry. If the tsar had abdicated, then he and his family were probably being imprisoned in this very palace; but who knew if the building had taken them back to the actual time or had created a timeline of its own? "Questioning about the royal family - well, the former royal family, since I think Nicholas has abdicated by now. They probably suspect us of trying to help him, which is not a very good position to be in right now."
Vlad wasn't worried about understanding the interrogators, but he knew Daniel didn't speak Russian; still, German and French would probably be good enough. "Whoever questions us will be speaking Russian, but they might understand some German and maybe French. I can speak Russian and German, and Daniel speaks German and French - so we should be fine in that sense. As for knowing one another... they might already think we do, having put us together." He turned his attention to Luther. "What about you? What languages do you know?"
