Daniel's problems (endless, endless problems) had begun at dawn, when he'd changed back into himself. The Beast was untroubled by the cold, and though Nick had managed to obtain him a pair of boots, a musty fur coat and pants, that didn't mean he was warm or comfortable. Being hauled off the streets didn't particularly surprise him. He didn't even have a shirt on, and he couldn't understand a word of what anyone was saying to him. He had a spare thought of concern for the boy, but presumably he was intelligent enough to stay hidden.
His surprise at seeing Vlad and Luther effectively shut down his expression and left him speechless for a whole ten seconds after his captors departed. The Beast had spent most of the night looking for Beauty, trying to find her in the least logical way possible while avoiding as many people as possible. That meant half the town was now convinced there was a huge monster waiting in the woods to eat their children, and the Beast hadn't found a damn thing. "Who else is here?"
