"The only person I know in the building is Esme," she told him, once he was done arguing with whoever was in his head. "Do you know people who might be able to help us?" she asked, even as she slipped her hand away from him and backed toward a nearby, vacated chair.
She put her hand on his shoulder, and she used it to hold onto as she climbed onto a nearby chair and look over the crowd. "I was with someone who might be from our time," she said as she stretched on tiptoe to see if anyone stood out. "But I don't see Esme," she said a moment later, and though she'd seen a photo of Stefan, she wasn't certain she could pick him out of the group either.
"Any suggestions?" she asked, looking down at him with a growing smile. Well, this was an adventure. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad. Atta girl, the voice in her head agreed.
