Cole was in bed, trying to ignore his increasingly painful headache long enough to get some sleep. He'd just managed to close his eyes when there was a flash of something beyond the darkness of his eyelids, and suddenly he was no longer in bed - or even in his apartment.
First of all, he was wearing a suit unlike anything he'd even worn in the past - not even at his cousin's wedding that one time. He stared down at himself, utterly speechless, before realizing that there were people dressed similarly to him - the men, at least - and women clad in outfits that he remembered seeing in history books.
There was a coat in his hands, and he shoved it at the coat girl without thinking. He was trying to keep his breathing even and not panic, but between the smoky room and loud music, it wasn't going very well. "This is not happening," he said aloud, ignoring the odd looks he got from passing couples.
