Isobel sat staring at the computer screen for a long while, wondering why she had just invited Jasper up after pitching such a fit about not wanting to see anyone. Maybe she was overreacting about everything that was going on with Trenton, but this wasn't a situation she had ever been involved in before. Murder, rape... they were the kind of things that she really would like to pretend simply didn't exist, but after talking to Trenton, she had to accept that they did happen and people she knew could be guilty.
But surprisingly enough? It hadn't lowered her opinion of Trenton in the slightest, and Isobel had to wonder what that said about herself. And maybe that's what was bothering her the most.
Gathering her thoughts and shoving them in a mental bag and tying it shut, Isobel made some attempt at putting order to her appearance. Fingers were raked back through her hair, and she stood in front of her hall mirror, twisting it up into a makeshift bun. Once she was done, she looked in the mirror, tried a smile, but it lasted only a moment before it faded away. She knew she looked tired, and she wouldn't admit to how much time she had spent sitting and staring at the place she had hidden Trenton's portrait.
She really needed to get her mind off of things, and that, Isobel decided, was why she had asked Jasper up. "Stop moping around, you idiot," she hissed to herself, turning away from her reflection. A pair of flip flops was stepped into and she made her way out into the hall, keys to her place shoved in the pocket of her yoga pants, and once the door was closed behind her, she leaned back against it, arms wound around herself for protection.
And then, she waited.
